I realize this thread is old and all but the subject line is perfect and I'd like to describe my most recent experience with Goldstein Subaru.

I bought my STI there and have had all maintenance (oil changes) done there. I'd read a lot of bad things about them (including this thread) but I had never had a problem with them besides the little joyride one of their techs took one time. I brought my car there the other day for an oil change and tire rotation.

I noticed the car smelled like it was burning a lot of oil and it left a nice puddle in the driveway at my friends house. I checked it and it was half a quart low. At that point I was assuming that I just didn't get a good reading and they spilled a lot of oil on the undertray. The next day I checked again and it was a quart low.

I brought the car back in and told them it had lost a quart of oil in two days and 100 miles. After an hour of waiting they returned the car to me and said that the oil pan drain plug wasn't tightened all the way.

They screwed up the tire rotation too, but that's another story.

CN: Dealer screws up an oil change, if I did not check the oil and notice the puddle my engine would have blown up in a couple days. Goldstein still sucks.

Hey, guys, not sure how old this thread is, but, just wanted to chime in that I work at New Country Ford/Mazda/Subaru in Saratoga Springs. We've got 2 dedicated Subaru guys, adn from what I've seen come in from other shops that the other shops either can't fix or dismiss thinking there is nothing wrong, has been diagnosed 100% properly the first time, I'd say a good 95% of the time. Give us a try, our guys do alot of WRX and STI work.

I know this thread is a few years old but I wanted to chime in my experiance with them. I went in to buy a few clips for my side skirts. They had to order them, this was on friday. I paid 6 bucks so they would ship them to my house. They said expect them on wensday. Wensday came and went, and a week overdue I called them up wondering where the hell my clips were. The people there didn't realized that they were supposed to be shipped to my house. Another week goes by and I finally get them. I saw the price it cost them to ship to me, it was $0.75. It was only clips so I didnt make a big deal of it but its how a place deals with the little things that shows their true character. I'll never go there again.

Figured I'd chime in...I work for a local dealership (not Subaru) but bring my 06 STI to Goldstein for oil changes and such. So far, so good. Stephanie, the service writer, is very friendly and always willing to make sure I get an appointment time that works for me and they provide transportation when necessary. No big problems there yet, would recommend seeing Stephanie in service for a good experience.

It's been years since someone reviewed this dealership, but I want to bump it back to the top with my experience(s). I have been to Goldstein a number of times for myself and for my fiance' when we having been looking at a new Suby purchase. After some sub-par experiences I should have learned my lesson. However, I made this mistake of trying to give these guys a shot again.

The other I stopped into the dealership to work a deal on a '15 WRX. The immediately talked up my '11 about how great it looked and that I obviously took care of it. Great, let's move on. So, I sat down with the salesman, who I was not impressed with from the beginning. He was obviously new and really did not have much to say. He was definitely lacking in the salesmanship department. However, I have worked many deals and don't need all the sales pitches anyway. My focus was simply to get some numbers and, if all looked good, possibly throw down a deposit.

After talking for a few about my car and what I was looking for the salesman headed off to talk to the managers. He returned and smugly threw down the Guaranteed Trade Program certificate for my car. I told him I was aware of the price and reminded him that my car is way under the allotted mileage, which adds value. He told me he knew that. So, I am not sure what he was trying to prove by showing me the GTP price. We agreed on a good value for my car. Great... So, then I asked about what they were willing to do for their car. He kept saying that pricing was not out. I explained that it doesn't matter, as it would be dependent upon where they were in reference to invoice. He kept telling me he could not say. However, they were expecting me to put a deposit down without knowing what they were going to do on their car. Amazingly, people have actually been stupid enough to give the dealership money without knowing what pricing the dealer was going to do.

So, after talking more about pricing the salesman rudely told me that he would get pricing if that would make me happy and call me within an hour. That call never came. I spoke with a guy from the dealership who I had dealt with before. He was a jerk about things and basically told they don't give cars away. Um, no one said anything about that. I never even gave an idea of what I what price I was looking for with their car.

Yet another poor experience with Goldstein. There are plenty of dealerships that are willing to take care of customers and show respect.

I've had two good experiences working with the parts department via email. They have been a sponsor of the 48 Hours of Tri-state charity drive for several years, and the last two years I've won a gift certificate. They have been awesome in getting the parts I've asked for and getting them shipped Down to West Virginia.

I recently went to Goldstein Subaru and test drove a new 2019 Subaru WRX STI as I was looking to purchase one. Had to sit down with a sales man and talk about the car n stuff first before we could go on a test drive. After the test drive they looked at my 2011 STI that I was going to trade in. Said it was a nice car but they wanted me to bring it back so they could put it up on the lift before they would give me a number for my trade. Car is clean and I have never had a dealer want to do that. Salesmen said he has two business cards one with his cell phone and one with out it. He only gives out the one with the cell phone if he thinks the person is legit in buying a car. We then left that dealership and I then took my business to Capitaland Subaru in Glenville. They let me take a new 2019 STI out for a test drive then we talked business. With the Internet special price they took a couple grand off MSRP and gave me a great price on trade in after we went back and forth as to what I wanted to get for my car. They ended up giving me a grand over my asking price. Great dealership to do business with sales people and manager were very nice to do business with. They give a free sticker they put in your car for lifetime laser free carwashes at the dealership =priceless. I ended up buying my 2019 STI in World Rally Blue from them with only 9 miles on it. I will never go to Goldstein again!!!! Also Capitaland Subaru never wanted to put my car up on the lift.
