Default WRX XTD Stage 3 Clutch from Ebay?

I recently found a clutch kit sold on Ebay for 02-03 WRX called XTD stage 3 clutch... Found some reviews of the clutch for othercars like Preludes but no Subies ... Anyone?

Bought it, and installed it, fit perfect no issues. Came with everything you would need, though-out-bearing, flywheel pilot bearing and alignment tool. I asked for 2nd day shipping and got it for $32 extra, west coast to east coast. Breaking it in now, so far I have 30 miles on it. No shudder is perfect for my daily driver with just a little more peddle pressure then the Spec clutch I took out. Pushing in peddle reminds me of a compound bow, hard to pull at first then easy.
Ask me about it in a month when I turn boost up to 20+psi after breaking in clutch.

Subscribed. Update this thread when you get a chance to test this clutch out. also, since all the parts say "made in japan" on them, first impressions are good. haven't really heard of any shoddy parts coming from japan. but that could just be a gimmick.

although, never heard of XTD before.

Well... When they say 500 miles break in what does that mean? I didn't do a full throttle launch, using launch control untill 500 miles, but I did floor it and tune the car some since 100 miles. Is this bad? Well it slips when I do a launch control launch using nitrous. Clutch doesn't slip when I blip the throttle to launch, the wheels slip instead leaving white smoke and tire tread on the ground.
Clutch is 100% good for daily driving getting stuck in traffic jams. Shudders once in a while taking off or changing gears, no big deal. Worth the $250 IMO. When I bought the clutch I knew I was over the HP rating for the clutch, so I'm not totally dissapointed.

Sounds pretty decent if its holding with the kind of power your pushing to it. I'm only looking to go to STG 4 at this point, and dont believe i'll be using launch control anytime soon...as far as "break in" goes...maybe someone can shed some light on to exactly what that means.

Thanks for the update!

No, stock resurfaced flywheel.

I need a replacement now ASAP after 6 months of use and maybe 9,000 miles. I thought I had this for a year and more miles. After reading this post I was W T F it's only been 6 months. I would say the HP rating for the clutch is much less then stated. I should be changing it out sometime in April, will post pics of what it looks like after 9 months and slipping only when I launch it.

Sorry I didn't post pics, anyway...

After 9k miles and 6 months the clutch was worn very unevenly, one of the clutch pieces had all the material the other was down to the rivets. The rivets stuck up a good bit, much more then other clutches. This totally ruined my flywheel. It had huge grooves in it and looked like it was falling apart . I always get the flywheel resurfaced when I get a new clutch.

"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" not always true but there are certain companies it is VERY TRUE such as XTD. A inexpensive company that i really like are ssautochrome BUT they dont make clutches. SCREW XTD AIMCO CLUTCH. I e-mail them everyday and they dont reply how sad!!

hi guys !

i'm also looking for this clutch on my WRX. I have "only" 300whp and the MRT tranny. Do you think this clutch could be enough ?

I also found another clutch kit on ebay: the gripforce stage3... seems to be the same ... any feedback for this one ?

thanks,
Fab

Don't waste your money, spend $500 bucks on something nice. It's worth it and you wont regret it.

yes it's hard to choose between a cheap and may be ****ty clutch and a much more expensive but efficient one....

i still have my stock clutch and it's perfect for my torque (around 310 lbf ft) it never slipped ...so if i buy an oem exedy, it should be perfect but how long ??
