Cool, does he still want to play in cold weather when he's 31 and injury prone?

TIL that Golden Taint was still in the NFL, the NFC East anyway.

Thomas Davis has announced that he will sign with the Carolina on the first day of the new league year and retire a Panther.

The QB merry-go-round this season is dizzying. Fun to watch but it's making my head hurt. There's almost two thirds of the league looking for something. I'm sure folks in places (KC, TB, GB maybe, ...) that aren't playing the game are happy.

Watt is already making the rounds here in Phoenix. He popped into one of my company's restaurants this morning for breakfast. Naturally, I'm working from home today and missed it.

They've got a lot of faith he's going to come back from that leg injury with that much guaranteed money. That seems like a decidedly Cowboys sort of thing to do. I like Dak though, I hope it works out for all involved.

There are quality QBs that haven't landed that much guaranteed money on 6/7 year deals.

Between salary and bonuses in the first year, they are going to pay him a little over double what they would've been on the hook for on a second straight franchise tender.

Yeah, I would have tagged him again just to see how well he recovers.

I’m not sure where the Cowboys go from here though. They have more pressing needs than breaking the bank for Dak.

So Dak who is a good player but not elite (could be argued) and recovering from a gruesome injury gets a deal giving him somewhere around 1/8 of the salary cap for a 53 man roster? I don’t see how the Cowboys can be competitive with that little cash left.

At least the stadium is nice.

For all the talk of this being a record year for franchise tenders, due to the cap issues caused by Covid-19, only eight players were tagged:

Bears, Allen Robinson

Panthers, Taylor Moton

Broncos, Justin Simmons

Jaguars, Cam Robinson

Giants, Leonard Williams

Jets, Marcus Maye

Tampa, Chris Godwin

Team, Brandon Scherff

Yeah, some teams rarely use their tag, anyway. The Packers haven't used theirs since 2010.

Why would they? They've made the bet that as long as Rodgers is playing, they can field just about anyone and still win......and it's worked for the most part.

Also: Robinson being tagged.

Aaron Jones would have been a good candidate to tag this year, but they didn't.
