And once again, we've drifted from discussing a specific study and it's implications/interpretation to global claims that 'diagnostic testing is a misuse of PCR, so I can (will) choose to disbelieve all testing data'.

Alrighty then.

Multiple types of tests are being used to test for covid, pcr being a very common, frequently used option. You guys want to throw around numbers and graphs based on those numbers, and base policy on those numbers, but I just illustrated why pcr testing isn't accurate for this purpose. When a large percentage of the data is based on a mis-used test, your data isn't worth the bandwidth it's sent on.

You didn't do jack but post a dirty conspiratorial YT video after watching it and gobbling it up.

I look forward to more of your "illustrations".

I mean, just a couple videos ago the YT account said there is no such things as viruses. Which is it?

Please explain, in detail, what the appropriate diagnostic test for viral disease like COVID-19 would be then...

Did OP really expect the covid thread would be any different this time? Did I expect the next time the thread was revived I could resist clicking in it? These and other mysteries in the NEXT covid thread!

You made 0 comment on the substance of the video, simply attacking the poster of the video instead; and you're ignoring the NYT article I posted, which should enlighten you a lot more. I've posted other articles about this, at least (another) one from the NYT. Did you see me endorse every video that account posts? No, you didn't, because I don't give a **** what they post. I do give a **** what the nobel prize winning inventor of PCR testing says about the thing he invented.

It's awesome to see the obfuscation and pushback. Why is it so extreme? Yeah, we know why.

No, because I'm not a dr or scientist. But since you are, please explain why PCR testing is the CORRECT test in our current scenario.

So it's a derp thread that thinks it's not a derp thread? That checks out.

Are there any privacy laws etc for an employer to not warn their employees of other employees/co-workers that have tested positive?

Or is it their responsibility to warn their employees of co-workers testing positive?

Obviously I would hope it's the latter.

After an abrupt turn to mandate masks again at my workplace yesterday, I find out today, 2 employees have tested positive. Neither are in my dept but a company of ~40 it doesn't take much for ppl to get around especially the bosses.

As long as they don't identify who specifically was infected then there should be no privacy law violation.

Okay, thread poll: does anyone else care to hear why PCR is a valid diagnostic test method for viral diseases? And, in fact, not 'a' valid method, but the industry preferred Gold Standard?

And was so, long before COVID-19 showed up?

Because I'm not posting a primer on Diagnostic Clinical Virology for an audience of 1. If he cares so much, he can go get a PhD. Or even, like, take a community college course on infectious disease.

At our hospital the 2 expansion units for covid are full. We're adding a 3rd area next week - though not really sure how we're going to staff it.

51 patients with covid this week. Had about 30 last week.
