Default What's the oldest pair of shoes you still routinely use?

I have a pair of '95 Nike Air Max shoes I still use to this day as junkers for day to day use. Their purpose is to get dirty, wet, paint spilled on, whatever. They live outside. I also have some ancient Doc Martens that have hung around for forever, never really used, but they're just....there.

How about underwear? Gross I know. I have a pair of boxers that I'm pretty sure are close to a decade old. Perfectly fine. No holes. Clean. They just never found their way to the garbage because they're just a pair amongst the others.

Shoes: a pair of beaters about 9 years old
Boxers: I'd say about 8 years old and they're in good shape

My grass cutting shoes are about 8 years old.

Underwear I usually purge once a year. Although I recently just bought some underwear from Duluth Trading Company, those will not be getting replaced yearly as I can't afford to.

Also hats. I have a few of them that are probably 25 years old that I never got rid of. They're just there.

My grass cutting boots are probably 15 years old.

My winter boots are 23. As are my rollerblades and hockey skates.

Most of my clothes are older than my kids.

No old "shit kickers" for the lack of a better term? Ones you use for yard work or whatever?

I think I have some boots that are about 8-9 years old. Everything else is fairly new.

My old etnies sandals have to be pushing 18 years and get used every season. Glued the soles back together on more than one occasion, but I can't find a new pair I like so these will stay for now. Like some one said a pair of old doc martins that are just there for nostalgia. Other than that household yard work kicks get recycled every year or two or three when my normal wearing shoes become not so nice.

Oh, I forgot about boots. I have 2 pairs of Timberlands that are probably 14 or 15 years old. But I don't wear them routinely.

No, I have some ****ty old Converse All Stars that I do most of my yard work in, but they're not more than 2-3 years old. I do have a pair of hunting boots that are probably almost 20 years old, but I don't wear them more than once or twice a year.

Almost all of my office shoes and boots are going to be in for the long haul though. They're all capable of having new soles added, so I expect to get 20+ years out of each pair.

I have a pair of Vans that are 12 years old.

I don't wear them much anymore, but they're just so comfortable and have held up so well I can't bring myself to get rid of them.

I had an LA Raiders coat that I got in 6th grade. Baggy was the **** back then, so it still fit almost 20 years later (a little short in the sleeves), then my ex wife threw it out.

I have a pair of Doc's from when I was in 7th grade... so 28 years? I don't wear them at this point, but I certainly could. They feel like slippers now.

Regularly wear? A pair of Fluevog's that are probably 12 years old

I have a pair of boat / deck shoes that are probably 18 years old. They are comfortable but ugly (according to the wife). They are hidden in the basement otherwise she would throw them out when I wasn't looking.

Edit: I should just throw them away.

That's because you don't weigh anything. You're not putting much pressure on the soles!

The oldest item of clothing I still own is probably a little league jacket from when I was 10.

My lawn mowing shoes have to be about 5 years old. I had a pair of Merrell boots that lasted a good 12 years before they self destructed on a trail.

I did just retire a belt that I routinely wore thru high school, college and adult life. It's 21 years old. Bison Belts FTW.

yard shoes.

they're wooden and from Holland. Probably 20 years old at this point?

The neighbors used to look at me weird, but I never have to worry about dog ****, or anything really.

I think I also have a pair of chucks that I only wear when I go to concerts that are pushing close to 20 years at this point.

who the **** wears underwear?

I don't know how you all can have athletic shoes that old that are still serviceable. I wear mine smooth in ~6 months. They then get rotated to yard duty for another 6 months.
Oldest usable pair I have right now is the dress shoes on my feet and they are getting replaced sometime soon. They are just under a year old.

I have a pair of insulated hiking boots that are ~ 5, but they get used 1-2x a year.

TMF, how long have you been in Texas?

Skip getting new dress shoes every few years.

Go to Cavenders when they are having a tent sale. Buy some dressy boots for a couple of hundred. Get them re-soled every 5 or more years depending on how often you wear them. As long as you treat the leather well, they will last you as long as you live in Texas.

I work downtown and wear boots, roughly 10% of the businessmen downtown wear boots with suits.

The pair I have are on year 4 of daily use, no signs of needing new soles yet. I'd have gone through 3-4 pair of cheaper dress shoes by now. They're comfy, not as comfy as flip flops, but they are good enough for every day use.

$40 puma sneakers from '06. Soles are a little flat and the mesh is kinda holey but theyre viable beaters.

Coming up on year 4.
I also don't think my fashion game is strong enough to sport boots with my polos and slacks
But I appreciate the tip and will look for that the next time the Cavender's near me has a sale.

Also, since I missed the other part, oldest pair of undies is ~ a touch under 2 years? Once my rock hard ass wears out the seat, they get trashed. It used to be more frequent. With my transition to fully synthetic boxer trunks from cotton blends I have seen way better wear. Cotton ones made it < 1 year.
