We need to turn that guy into the traveling OT concrete specialist. I have a paver patio on the docket for later this summer, but I would rather pay him to get it done for me

Converting my kids bed from a toddler bed to a full sized bed with a conversion kit. The kit came with 4 slats that span from side to side. The mattress just lays on top of the slats. (Don't want to add a box spring it would make the bed too high). It looks like the kid should have had 6 slats instead of 4, however when someone lays on the bed when you look under it you can see the slats sag right down the middle. Not sure if the extra 2 would help. What would be the best way to prevent the bed from sagging right down the middle?

Bought this when we converted our crib to the full size bed for the same reason of keeping it low. Sturdy, only 2" thick.

My 7 yo inherited the guest room queen bed when the 3rd baby decided to show up. He's been in it since he was 5. He has a RUDE awakening when he goes to college.

A piece of OSB? the kid probably won't mind it being a little stiff, especially if the mattress is thick enough

Received a quote for 2, 3 ton - 14 seer units and gas furnace for $8300 installed. Includes updated WiFi capable thermostats. I passed on the heat pump option which would have been $12k total, because we're planning to move in the next couple years.

Units to be installed are Goodman. The same brand that's been fairly trouble free for the last 20 years in the house.

Might want to check reviews of Goodman. Had one unit installed about 5 years ago without wifi thermo for $5400. We have electric heat and it was a Trane.

I would also maybe reconsider goodman. They are the brand that property owners/landlords use in all their systems because they want the cheapest one to put in their rental units. Oddly enough you can buy Goodman off Amazon.

Trane, Lennox, and Carrier are all more well respected brands. But at a significant cost increase. Our goal is to move in 2 years. I don't think I'll get a return on the up front investment in the more respected brands.

Have a family member who sold appliances/parts. They carried Goodman and I was considering replacing a/c at the time. He steered me away from Goodman which was remarkable as he'd sell his own mother to make a buck.

If you're definitely moving soon then go with the cheapest thing that will get you there.

I just parted with $16k+ to have my 16yr old Carrier 4ton replaced a Trane 20 SEER. They ended up replacing all the ducting. Nice Wifi thermostat now.

House was 89F this afternoon when they turned the system on. Afternoon temps were 95F here.

Took about 5 hrs for it to pull down to 74F (which is lower than the 77F we usually keep it at).

Wow is the learning curve for geothermal stuff is steep. I've been down this rabbit hole for 2 full days. I got a proposal from a place so I'm dissecting it and looking at each piece of equipment, and the loop field proposal and everything. The more I read the more confused I am. I talked to a friend of a friend of mine who has had geo for 9 years and he had some critiques for the proposal so I'm researching all that. But his system has been awesome and dirt cheap to run and it gives me confidence that maybe mine will be too if I go that route. But damn the information overload...

Looking for a 1080p or higher POE camera system. I was looking at this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C6DJPX6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2YIWX0IXL76T1&coliid=I1LXW56Z0SLUJD&psc=1
What say ye? Any other recommendations? 4 Cameras should do it.

Are there any wireless systems that have the same quality of the POE systems? There are a few runs that i am dreading with the ethernet cable.

So the AC system fiasco turned out to be a clogged filter that caused the system to crank up the effort and just over filled the drain pan. So now we just have to address the ceiling damage. Blessing in disguise here: I can get rid of the ugly light fixture in the hallway and replace it with a recessed light fitting and led bulb! Yay!

I would disagree. i was quoted an additional 1k to upgrade from the Goodman to a Carrier system on a new system we were getting quoted. IMO it was worth it.
2 2.5 ton units 16 SEER units, so basically 500$ extra for each unit.

If it was only $1k to upgrade from Goodman to Carrier for two units, that was definitely worth it, and well under the normal cost delta.

Of course, now that Carrier moved production to Mexico, guess they can be more cost competitive.

The quality is fine....it's the signal strength I worry about.
