Maybe in a few months when I get bored with Baldurs Gate I'll give it a shot. Baldurs gate it is amazing. I'm so glad I didn't play through early access.

Two weeks away from early access and three months away from being playable if it's anything like the other AAA releases of the last couple of years.

Nope. Totally playable now. Bugs are relatively minor and fixed immediately. This is the most polished game I've ever seen and it's unbelievably large. It has something like 1700 hours of dialog. Meet a dog it barks. Cast speak with animals and there's full dialog. I can't even. This is likely due to 3 years in early release but let me emphasize this game is in fantastic shape from day one. Zero crashes. Zero issues.

I was referencing Starfield on console.

PC is a whole different beast now. With Steam, PC games are essentially "available" for months before they go on sale. Way easier to realize something is a complete turd before you drop it on the public and completely ruin your reputation.

ie Cyberpunk

Starfield is going to be hot garbage when it releases. It was written by Bugthesda. I typically love their games after a few months and they at least take care of the game/quest breaking bugs.

Which is funny to hear considering I just recently ran through Fallout 4 again and there are still day one issues that still pop up in that game eight years later.

... and of course, several of those Creation Engine bugs were carryovers from Gamebryo. I'm sure they figure it out with another 25 years of polish

I don't expect it to be any more or any less buggy than Skyrim was. Half the time, the bugs add a lot of fun in their games.

I also wouldn't quite make the cyberpunk comparison. CDPR made the bad move of having it be cross-gen and it really shouldn't have been. It was still a bad launch but wasn't horrendous on the Series X and PS5, though the PS5 still crashed often.

PC was terribad. I got as far as his companion sitting on nothing while eating noodles with chopsticks floating near his head after having to restart the game because the bad guys in the training Sim were inside the walls so I couldn't finish it and get out. Reboots did nothing to solve it so I said **** it.

I was able to play though Cyberpunk without issue on PC at launch. Sure, there was the odd visual bug on occasion (NPCs t-posing down the street and the like), but nothing game breaking.

I honestly didn't experience anything game-breaking with Skyrim or any of the Fallout games at launch. I did have a game braking issue with Dishonored at launch. Had to shelve that for months before they fixed a CTD problem that occurred when walking through a certain door.

My personal favorite from FO4, which has been there since day one:

I think my favorite bugs from a game have to come from Black Flag where you'd get some like no head, but there would be eyeballs, teeth and tongue.

I am not a gamer, I own a Xbox 360. I watched the trailer, and the lack of realism when it comes to people is quite funny. People still look like cartoon characters, not photorealistic.

It's my only gripe about it so far. The characters' faces and eyes are dead looking, especially compared to recent games by Rockstar and others. It's a shame.

You want to see some really dead eyes, check out pretty much every NPC from Horizon Zero Dawn. It's horrific.

I know you've mentioned that about Horizon before, but I still can't say I've noticed. Of course, the sequel is more fresh in my mind. Perhaps the reason its so jarring in the Bethesda games is their insistence on the stupid face-to-face dialog system which showcases the uncanny valley literally front and center vs a more cinematic approach.

The game was otherwise pretty, and it wasn't there in cutscenes, but the same face to face dialogue with NPCs was very jarring.

Looking forward to at least a good play through. IIRC, this will be my first Bethesda game play. (aside from one of the fallout demos)

Free games are easier to enjoy, right?
