I gave up. A corner of the driveway is unfinished and is a 3ft snowbank. The road hasn't been "plowed" since Friday and is one lane with significant snowfall still left. The rest of my neighborhood was plowed real well, including widening to two lanes. Tell me HOA...what the ****? Who the **** plows most of the neighborhood but NOT the portion leading to a main arterial road?

**** everything, I'm taking a hot shower with a beer.

Yeah, this is what faced me....this is solid all the way around the development. No one has been in or out since Friday afternoon.

And I think the only thing holding my shovel together is divine intervention.

It's cracked in 3 places and the right side broke off, but it still shovels through this ****.

Arrived home Friday night from a 3 week vacation to this crap. Had to fly into Philly from Seattle, then Uber to the train station, Acela to BWI, shuttle bus to the terminal, shuttle bus to the parking garage, drive home, stopping on the way at the most picked over Safeway ever, then parking in the alley on my parking pad because there were no street spots left. Today I shoveled the car out, and all the way up the alley to the street, but there hasn't been a plow through since late friday night, so the street is still under 2'+ of snow. Have to shovel out a hole to the alley once the plows come through.

Car shoveled out and cleared

Alley dug out to car width, thank god for snow tires.

All dug out but nowhere to go, both employers closed, along with daycare.

Hey Grap, at least you can see your driveway... My **** still has a thin layer of compacted snow. I won't see my driveway until temps get significantly above freezing.

My street hasn't seen a plow since Friday. Two feet of snow. Hopefully someone comes through tonight.

Most of the streets around me were packed snow this morning, and melted off by late afternoon. Unfortunately, they were drenched, and the temps are going to be down in the teens tonight, so everything's going to freeze over. All of the local schools are closed, hopefully my office calls tonight or tomorrow morning, at least for a delayed opening. I might just call in and work from home.

My side road has been plowed but not my cul-de-sac. It's likely going to be a while. Luckily my wife's school is closed tomorrow and I can telework all week no problem. I'm really running out of places to put the snow though. Sidewalks are clear (I clear both my older neighbors' sidewalks), and my two cars and my older neighbor have the cars cleared at the sides but not at the front...waiting for the plow before I even bother.

my road is clear, and dry as a bone, but a few miles away, I found many other roads to be very buried. Even though I was all shoveled and prepped to go into work, I'm glad OPM called it off.

So if OPM is closed, is everywhere closed? Or just DC?

Plow never showed up. Will show up "sometime tomorrow". Looks like I'm investing in a snow blower. Done being at the mercy of someone else to get out of my house.

A good-sized two stage snow thrower will move close to a ton of snow per minute. Quite satisfying. My neighbor bought a brand-new Ariens Claasic for $1,000 delivered and it works great.

Max snowfalls from storm Jonas by state:

40" in WV.
39" in VA.
38" in MD.
35.5" in PA.
30.5" in NYC (3rd highest in history).
30" in NJ.
22" in KY.
19" in NC.
15.5" in MA.

Shovel finally broke with less than a foot to go to reach the plowed street.

We made it through three winters together.... You were my boy, Blue!!

Need to finish with a spade shovel and go to the store to buy a new one.

This is from my home office. The plow made one pass into the neighborhood last night and apparently said **** it I'm out. Hopefully they will be back this morning.

I've got a leak in my garage from the melting snowpack on the roof. All that effort to clear the driveway and let it dry before sundown, and I'm now fighting ice inside the garage.
