Plus they're trying to get chicks to watch the show.

I just started the second book. Interesting how they seemed to have woven characters into the TV pilot that first appeared in the second book. I'm looking forward to this series.

Yup. I just watched them. It's good. The end of episode four is where they level up in a big way. Looking forward to the rest.

I regretted watching them immediately after I thought about the possibility that they wouldn't keep releasing episodes early online.

Got through 3, no time for 4 yet. But damn, they are making an effort on this thing.

Just finished episode 4 and damn I'm hooked now.

Reminds me of Babylon 5 mixed with the new BSG.

Waiting for Episode 5 is going to suck.

For those that haven't read the books, the end of episode four is where they're just getting started. It gets awesomer. I'm just curious about how far they'll get with each season. Like will they try to knock out the entire first novel in the first season? I wouldn't think they're on track to do that at this point unless the first season has more episodes than I expect.

Ya, episodes 3 and 4 have been the best so far. The battle with the MCRN and the unknown ship was pretty damn well made, best I've seen Syfy do in ages.

I'm having a hard time separating this show from a similar premise from a Spacebattles story debate from like 15 years ago I was involved in that I kept working on independently... (Same Earth vs. Colonies type conflict near eruption, "Free Belt" movement, Earth First policies [more of a Babylon 5 idea though], conflict with an unknown third party, realistic physics/ships/combat, etc.)

Its making some of this hard to watch, its kind of weird.

10 episodes ordered for the first season IIRC.

I think they're on track. Had to spend a couple of episodes getting the audience up to speed, but 10 is enough for Game of Thrones to crush some much longer books in one season.

Though, of course, let's all try not to spoil exactly what might be coming in those later episodes.

Except that it's already been written so it can't go off the rails in the same way those two shows did....hopefully.

just got around to watching the 2nd thru 4th episode, pretty enjoyable. The acting isn't killer, but I mean, it's a syfy show. The CG on the other hand is pretty impressive. I'm not sure if I'd still be watching it if it wasn't for the books, but I'll stick with it for a while.

I'm enjoying the show. I think they did a great job casting people who *almost* look like other (more established) sci-fi stars... lol

yeah, i mean, for a syfy channel show they're really killing it. It's like, 80% as good as a big budget movie or miniseries, which honestly is pretty impressive.

I've powered through three of the books so far. They're good reads. The pacing is pretty fast in the books and so far SyFy is doing it justice. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep it up. I hope they didn't invest for the first few episodes and then are planning to cut costs and let it go to **** after. You can't really do this show without a good budget.

Edit: Invisitexted the titles, though those only give hint of the content to readers. Better safe I suppose.
