Brass cased 9mm is a dollar cheaper per 50rd. box for 124 FMJ but depending on shipping i may just pay a buck more/box from Ammunition Depot if they're legit.

Thoughts? Get it or stick with PMC/Blazer/Winchester/Remington, etc.? This would be strictly for plinking and practice.
I've run the red box stuff before:

And the RWS as well:

There were within 1 fps of each other averaged (different days). My wife's gun loves the RWS as far as accuracy is concerned. I bought a lot of it when WM had it.

wow, looks great!

What are you guys using for scope rings? I have no 30mm rings, but like 3 sets of 1" rings. I'd like something decent, but I can't see myself spending $120 on a set of rings.

Does anyone here own, or can comment on, the S&W Model 41 .22lr semi-auto?
LGS is holding one for me until I can go check it out after work. It's pretty spendy though and I'm thinking of using my 92FS Inox as trade bait.

Tack driver. Definitely more barrel heavy than other target guns. Fickle mags with ammo. Later productions saw reduced quality/fitting. Friend has one and with a good shooter behind it will clover leaf shots all day at 25+ yards. What's the cost of this 41?

I still like my high standard better.

Thanks for the reply. It's priced at $965 and from what I see and hear, should hold it's value... I'm kind of on the fence.

High Standard... a coworker has one that she/mother got after her Uncle passed, I've asked her to keep me in mind when they are ready to sell.

While not in the same class, I'm happy with my Ruger MkII Government Competition Target. It's fun to shoot.

Not a bad price. How many mags? Does it come with both barrels? I really want another 107 Supermatic. This time with a 7 1/4" fluted. Always good to have a spare.

Pig roast this weekend with the end of the pistol league. We'll see how things went. I'm hopeful I pulled enough points to make it to the top. They withhold the last two weeks scores to keep the tension up.

The S&W comes with two mags...

The gal with the High Standard had really poor cell phone pics and couldn't tell me more about it. I asked her to take better pics or to let me come and see in person.

Question on ear protection. Has anyone tried the electronic in ear or sonic gated plugs (surefire sonic defender style)? Considering grabbing a set of electronics but don't want to spend more than 3-350. Have a set of Howard Leights and they're OK but get annoying after 4-5 hours. Also thinking plugs for rifle would be better. I ordered the surefires to try and may just double up with what I have and see if that works without spending the coin on better. I'm entertaining the Eyomitics and like. My hearing is already really bad. I should keep it from getting worse.

Have you thought about custom plugs? Last gun show I went to there was a person there making casts but any audiologist should be capable.

I've wanted a 41 for forever. I've nearly bought a few times but always balk at the price.

A S&W 422 or 622 (stainless), later 2206 are all 85-90% of the performance for half the cost (and use the same magazines). They were known as "the poor man's 41" and are generally less finicky about ammo. They range in price from $300 on up in today's market (replaced by the awful and much more cheaply made 22A).

My 422 and 622VR:

I bought some of the surfire EPx plugs for riding my motorcycle. I don't think I'd shoot rifles with just them. They just don't seem to cut the sound down enough.

I have 2 (5" barrel and 7" barrel). Great gun. Way more accurate than me. Maintenance is super easy though I probably don't clean mine nearly enough. Definitely seem to hold their value so it's a good investment.

What are you looking for? If you're looking for a plinker, I would stick with a ruger. With a few upgrades they are pretty sweet. I would say my Ruger trigger is almost as good as my 41s. If you're looking for a bullseye gun, it's a great though not as nice as some of the European 22s. The big thing for me is the gun "feels" right. The grip fits perfectly in my hand, the balance as someone mentioned is a little nose heavy but it works for me.

It only shoots std velocity 22 so keep that in mind if 22 is hard to find for you.

$900 is decent price from what I've seen.

My LGS has one for sale for about that price.

A former jtac of mine fell on some hard times and is selling part of his collection but he wanted me to have his Marsoc det 1 built http://www.kimberamerica.com/1911/cu...stom-tle-rl-ii thing is amazing and he let me steal it, but i did sell his special purpose built rifle for 5k for him so he was more than happy on the discount he gave me. Pictures of it later.

You have an odd assortment of ammo confetti all over your floor. You should probably invest in an ammo box some time, and buy ammo by the box rather than single rounds individually.

I use the Vortex rings that seekins makes for them ( there are two different lines).

Burris Rings suck. Quality and crappy glass alike hates PEPR mounts.

Badger Ordinance rings are nice, but pricey.

You get what you pay for in rings. Pricier rings make for an easier and more definitive zero.

If you are going to buy cheaper rings, do yourself a favor and get a lapping bar and compound to get them as true as you can. I've seen some really terrible concentricity on cheapo rings.

I have ~3 ammo boxes per .308, 5 spam cans ofn7.65x54R (assorted nationality), 5 cans of 223/5.56, 3 cans of 9mm FMJ and a can each of Federal HST +P and Winchester Ranger T +P.

I've just sold everything except for my Glock 26, and G17 which are 9mm, a Tavor and AR that I sold this morning; both chambered in .223/5.56. Oh, and a Mosin Nagant M44. Sold the .308 but still have ammo. I have a lot of 5.7mm, too from when I had my 5-7 and PS-90

Oh, that's my counter. And I do purchase ammo by the box. Often by the 1,000s.

What is the price point where you start getting into decent rings? Seems there's $30, $60, and $120 groups.
