Never heard of them! Man, there is a lot to like about those watches, but unfortunately a design aspect here and there puts me off. Same with the Reef diver. That bulge on the left side, wth??

Ok folks, help me out here. It's taken a lot of trial and error, but I have come to the conclusion that other than my Aqua Terra on the rubber strap, I just don't like wearing watches that are not on a bracelet. And that bracelet MUST have an on-the-fly adjustable clasp.

So what meets my criteria below?
  • 41mm or less
  • Under 14mm tall
  • 48/49mm lug to lug or less
  • Bracelet with on-the-fly adjustable clasp (this is a MUST)
  • Max of about $2k (new or used)
  • Accurate automatic movement (regulated by maker or Elabore grade ETA (or better))
  • 150M or better WR, ideally with screw in crown for added security. But doesn't necessarily have to be a "diver"
  • Arabic dial would be good, or dots/circles, but I would like to avoid stick indices or triangles.
  • NOT a Seiko.

So far I have a few possibilities that meet most of the criteria -
Halios Fairwind,
Zelos (but already have one),
Monta
Omega - Maybe an SMPc but not sure I can get one as low as 2k. Planet Ocean?? Also 40mm Speedy Racing (not Reduced), but doubt I can get that anywhere near budget.
The Chris Wards in the c65 cases work too. Unfortunately I already know the 40mm Trident C60s don't fit me right on the bracelet. Frankly, I am about this >< close to buying Orbital's Sandhurst.

What am I missing?
Man the oak and Oscar gets you dang close
And it’s a hell of a good watch

Those look nice, unfortunately doesn't have the clasp that I want. Frankly, for that kind of $money I'd get a Monta Atlas or Triumph now that they have the adjustable clasp. But I think I am going to get the Halios Fairwind with a 12 hour bezel when ordering is open again.

I say you go with the Monta. Better movement, outstanding finishing, and you can find some used for a decent price.

I was out running errands and stopped by a local AD for multiple high end brands.

For fun I tried on a JLC Reverso, I thought it looked good, fit well and is now on my radar as a future purchase.

We did create a monster. There’s an open heart square Zenith I looked at getting for my dad since he’s into square watches.

I'm not sure if edkwon is just starting to delve (ok, jump head first) into horology hobby/collecting, but if so, then starting with GS is going to soon lead to stuff like JLC, I guess!

God, I loathe square and square-ish watches.

I agree. Not a fan of square/rectangle watches, so not sure how they are supposed to fit, but that looks a little large for your wrist edkwon. But to be honest, it isn't about what I think. If you think it looked good/fit well and was comfortable, it is a great watch to buy and build a collection around along with the GS. Those are 2 solid first watches.

Honestly, my PO is probably a little large for my wrist, but I liked it when I bought it, so **** what others think.

That Tank is another that is classy as ****, and SCWRX wears it well. But it ain't for me. He has a sport jacket on for Chirstmas eve with the family, probably sipping $200 Champagne and eating caviar. I am more of a white t-shirt/sweatpants/Natty Ice/mozzarlella sticks guy

Edit: It looks like a sweater, not a sport jacket, but yea

It was a navy blue Nike hoodie. But that watch will just class up anything you put on!

I'll echo some points here...Ultimately buy what you like and who cares what I think I'm just a person on the internet...but that JLC looks big on you.

The tribute moon, which I'm pretty sure is what that is, is like 50mm case length. If you're set on that complication then I get it, but the nice thing with the reverso is they have a few other sizes that are smaller which you may want to check out.

Great taste in watches though especially if you're just getting into the hobby.

Steve

Notice how he didn't deny the champagne and caviar, though

Very nice, thanks for sharing. The bracelet does accentuate the length of the lugs a bit. And looks like the live version of the bracelet solved the lug fitment pointed out earlier. Does it have half links?

Ok thanks. I think I am going to grab one. I figure if I don't like it I can always sell it for retail or more once they are sold out.

Or if you're okay with all polish and 21mm lugs the Mido Ocean Star Tribute should be looked at. It has stick indicies and a triangle but it fits all other of the criteria.

Hmm. I've checked out Mido Ocean Star before but not that model. Thanks!

Oh I know I am super picky but know what I want but can't decide which exactly. I appreciate your patience and help with the Sandhurst. It's still on my radar. I have 4 keepers now, just want to find one more.

Next level there. Looking forward to getting one.
And once you have a bracelet with adjustment like this, nothing else will do.
