You don't need guns, just gotta teach them to respect themselves and of course be able to kick ass.

Yeah, they just finished tee-ball a few weeks ago and the ideas for their next activity has come down to either dancing/tumbling or taekwando. My vote is for taekwondo, a decision has not been made yet.

She's always been a bit ambidextrous. She writes righty, but prefers to eat and bat lefty. Should be helpful for her interest in playing the drums. |

So, making baby food myself. Any tips / tricks?
So far I have been steaming the vegetables / fruits and pureeing them in our Ninja (using the left over steamer water to thin as needed) Seems to be working out pretty well and the little guy likes my foods more than the store stuff (score one for Dad!) So far he has tried (and been fine with) Carrots Sweet Potatoes Yams Pears (he loves pears!) Apples Prunes Bananas Peas Lentils (hated) He tried Avocado, seemed ok with it but he got a slight rash the first two times. Will try again. Any suggestions, or perhaps better methods? |

I made my own baby food too, definitely worth it in just about every way. I have no advice, but it sounds like you're doing fine.
All I got is this gif of my kid trying apple sauce for the first time, enjoy: It was so easy to get her to eat veggies back then. Oh, she got her first loose tooth today. |

Just go to the grocery store and peruse the veggies, we tried everything we could. then we started mixing some together.
This site was great for what to give, when to give and mixing some together. http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/ We bought some small ice cube trays for when it came time to mix some together, that way you don't have to defrost a bunch. http://www.amazon.com/Good-Living-Silicone-assorted-colors/dp/B00CR2NEPW/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1407627610&sr=8-10&keywords=small+ice+cube+tray http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Tot-Piece-Baby-Block/dp/B009M63NVG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407627672&sr=8-1&keywords=baby+food+storage |

OT Parents thread; The terrible 2.0s
One suggestion of a tasty meal, boil squash then mash it up and serve. Good and nutritious.
Ive noticed my 1 year old, doesn't like to eat when shes the only one thats eating, she likes to eat what im eating at the moment so i try to keep the foods on the healthy side of things, like rice, beans, broccoli, cheeses. Fruits..Etc Cant go wrong with small mozzarella sticks. Sent from my iPhone using NASIOC |

That's hilarious.

I'll be ramping up the baby food making biz soon too. So far, we've tried banana, sweet potato, and kohlrabi (mixed with nutmeg and breast milk). The initial "what the **** is this ****" phase is strong, but hopefully brief. They say variety at this stage will make them less finicky later on. My kid won't have a choice -- I'm not making chicken fingers for him every night like some parents do. We're getting a ton from our CSA, so I'll be trying that as well. Try steaming, too; it'll retain more nutrients. (And don't peel it -- most of the good stuff in squash and zucchini is in the skin.) |

Did you find the 2 oz'ers were only good for the first few months? Seems to be a common comment in the reviews. |

we didn't use those, but iirc they grew out of the smaller jars we'd get them pretty quick. Spent more time on the 4's and 6's.

the 2 oz are good for a couple months, but you can always combine a couple 2 oz ones. we found sweet potatoes are a good base to add a lot of stuff to.

Pro Tip #1: If at all possible, attain black belt level in any Marshal Art. It comes in very handy. The locks, come-alongs and occational soft take down will become useful.
Pro Tip #2: If you can pick up the uncooperative, screaming, bratty youngster and carry them under your arm, you still have it wicked easy. Wicked easy. 2 is a piece of cake Pro Tip #3: When the youngster is old enough to be bigger, stronger and have more energy than you, remember that tip #1 is useful. Use it occationally for no reason to retain your dominant role. ( you think I'm kidding? ) Intimidation factor is your friend. Pro Tip #4: Commerce Insurance Drive Advisor program is awesome and free. Pro Tip #5: When your pride and joy gets a driver's license, your insurance will double. Even when they have no car. Your insurance agent will say "I already know" when you call 10 minutes after pride gets handed his license. The bill somehow is in your mailbox before you get home. just thought you'd all like to see some of your future....... |

I have just been using the small 5oz bottles with the travel lids on them to store baby food in. Why clutter with more stuff.
"Hello ladies, can I buy you a chocolate milk?" Edit: And Kai, they can eat the squash skin? Damnitall! I just spent like 20 minutes removing the skin before I steamed and pureed it |

We did the whole baby food making thing, problem with that is that both our kids so far only ate baby food for a few months, so we bought a baby brezza and all sort of crap and then a few months later it's in storage. I will have one for sale soon!

I know. Your and Shannon's posts on the subject are what made me want to avoid processed, pureed foods. I'm trying to keep the stuff I make at least sort of chunky in order to avoid them all having the same consistency.
While I still think Dean is the cutest baby on the planet (of course)... ...I have to admit Gunnar's a close second. Isn't it silly how gaga people (i.e., women) get in public over them? I'm like, hey girls, how about a little sugar for daddy over here? |

Yup, and Gunnar loves to grab tits. I told him do it while you can, eventually it stops being cute and starts being a felony I envy my sons hands
