I paid 109 for the 840 pro and 130 for the 840 evo. I picked a k70 mx-red last night for 125 after tax and everything because the box was ripped up

Let me understand this.. So you are saying the stock Intel cooler gets your machine to boot in 10-12 seconds? So you think that by replacing the stock intel cooler with an aftermarket one (212 EVO/ect) it will make your machine boot faster?

What I was trying to say was that it works fine with the stock. The processor never gets warm. |

If he was playing BF4 then he would notice an issue/CPU getting hot. Yeah depending on what you use the PC for you might never notice a performance issue/decrease. |

Not sure what the most "CPU heavy" game we have is, but I've played Borderlands 2 with everything maxed out for 6+ hrs at the time with no issues. *shrug* Like I said, it's on the list of necessary upgrades, but as of now, we haven't had a need. The case is fairly big and spartan (as you can see form the picture) and has good airflow through it, which I would think helps. |

If you only are using the stock cooler, why on earth spend the money on a Sabertooth?

If anyone is in the market for a small form factor build the Ncase M1 is available again for preorder (v2 now).

Life of V1? It took a long time for them to get from prototype to a production batch run of 600 + extras for damages etc. The campaign where they were sold only lasted a month and there was a lot of interest in it after that which is what led to them doing another run. There were some things that people mentioned should be improved for the next run so that's why they're calling it a V2, changes are pretty minor.

It's pretty damn versatile, especially now that Silverstone is coming out with a 600W SFX (semi-passive) power supply, should be able to handle overclocking even the power hungriest GPUs as long as you have adequate cooling.

Sort of off topic but figured I would ask. Work gave me their old out of warranty Link balancer. I was thinking of selling it on eBay. If the buyer uses it maliciously could the mac address be traced back to my work?

I'm selling my console stuff to fund a PC update or possibly a new build but I need some help from the PC master race. Let me know if there is more info needed or any questions that need to be answered. Mostly will be a gaming and streaming machine. Budget to upgrade is probably $600 max and new would be $900 max. I will be reusing my keyboard, mouse and monitors. I don't know a lot about hardware stuff, especially current offerings, but I can upgrade or build the computer myself with help of a friend.
I currently have: CASE: Antec P183 CPU: Intel Core i5-750 MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 RAM: CORSAIR XMS3 2x2GB HEATSINK: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX HDD: ~2.5TB and 80GB SSD GPU: XFX HD-585A I'd like to add 1TB+ HDD and a decent sized SSD as well. Thoughts? |

Well, six bills ain't much. A lot depends on how much gaming you do, what games you play, and what monitor resolution will you be using. I would be sorely tempted to spend the coin on a really good GPU and 8GB RAM. While an SSD is really nice for a quick boot and file transfers, it really does not affect gaming or streaming.
If starting from scratch, I would go with a cheap MB and a basic CPU (maybe an i3). Go with 8GB RAM, if you feel you must have an SSD, get at least 256GB (500 class would be better). Then dump whatever you can afford into a good GPU. Quote:

It doesn't need to be the best of the best, just want something to hold me over for a few more years. My resolution is 1920x1080 and I have two 24" Dell monitors. So it looks like a good GPU and at least 8GB of ram is the way to go? Say I chose on going the $600 upgrade route, any recommendations for those? |

So after doing so quick research, if I upgrade I'm going to get 8GB of ram and a 280 or 280X. If I sell my current computer I'll spend the $800 or $900 and build a new one.

SSD is a total quality of life mod. Highly recommended. You'll never go back. At the minimum a smaller SSD as your boot partition.

Have any of you guys tried out newegg premire? I am currently in the trial and have saved $25 on a new headset. Looking at the same graphics card I have right now and it is about $100 difference.
