icewilly, if you are going to try again, please run before and after temp results!

Cliff notes of my build process: I'm retarded.
Stripped one of the mounting hardware for the cpu cooler. Getting one next day from Amazon. I tried taking out my mobo to mount the cooler and the stupid little anchors/mounts between the mobo and the case keep coming out. Flexed my mobo kind of bad... I'm ****ing trying to be careful throughout all of this Finally opened the other side of my case and I have perfect access to the rear of the mobo. I'm dumb sometimes. If I weren't working on it here and there it would go smoother. |

Get the gear in a room with AC and crank it up. Heat angers me and would cause me to make expensive mistakes. Which CPU cooler? The one I bought (cooler master), I had to almost strip the bolts in order to make it work. I was smart and removed the back cover of the case though. I needed to in order to access the rear of the mobo, so as to not remove the whole thing out of the case. edit: Just read you bought the same one I ordered. I think its a product defect. I would RMA it and get a replacement. Its BS that you cant screw the nuts to the holding bolts without stripping them. Interesting video about how to apply thermal compound. I usually go for the blob in the middle. Looks like a big x might cover more surface while still being convenient. (no need to bust out the cake frosting utensils) |

Setup new router last night. Discovered CIFS and ISCSI NAS went to complete crap. Couldn't even browse directory contents or mount a LUN. Discover today it was due to jumbo frames. Boo on Netgear for no jumbo frame support on the Nighthawk AC1900. |

Bought a bunch of parts at Frys to build my PC that day, but they ran out of the 5820k at the sale they were having. Sucks but oh well. Manager said he would pricematch microcenter when the chip does come in. It's a little higher than the Frys sale price. Oh well.
I order a PSU, case, and heatsink from newegg over the weekend because Fry's didn't carry them or the rebates didn't work out right. The case showed up Yesterday. The PSU is showing up next week, coming from NJ. The heatsink only shipped last night. Sigh. Looks like I'll have to wait another week. Yes, I'm impatient. #firstworldproblems |

Pretty sure I got lucky on my 980 as I can hit 1450mhz on air with stock cooler and bios. This thing is likely a beast on water.

Is 93C typical maxed out temp for a gpu/cpu? My R9 never went over high 70s and I set the fan speeds to max before that. Maybe I was being too conservative?

95c is too hot, but not unsafe for shorter periods. Anything over 75 is likely going to throttle your GPU.

It's spec'd at 98C for max temp: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desk...specifications Here's staring at a static screen with little to no updates in World of Tanks: The regular core clock for the 680 is 1084MHz, I'm holding at 1136 solid even at those temps... Maybe EVGA changed the firmware a tad to raise the temp at which the clock stepping starts to occur? Last edited by AcquaCow; 07-22-2015 at 04:18 PM. |

Finally got most of the parts in last night. I think I could have done a better job installing the CPU cooler, because I think I moved it around more than I should have once it was in contact with the CPU, but I will try it and see what happens. Do any of you guys know if they make extension cables for the HDAUDIO/2x5 block connector dealie that gives me audio outputs on the front of the case? I did a basic search and came up empty handed. The cord for that in my case isn't long enough and I'd like to route it in a more pretty fashion. It's that cable on the left. If no extensions are available, do you guys have any other suggestions for extending the length of it? It took all of the length available just to get it plugged in and I have no leeway in routing options now. I should hopefully have it up and running tonight. Gonna make sure everything works right and then tidy up all the wiring and stuff. I love this case though, being able to take off both side panels has saved me so much time and anger. |

Will routing that cable behind the motherboard tray work? It looks like there is an opening for it to come through right by the PSU.

Even if there's not room, I've totally run stuff like that directly under the motherboard before...

I need a game to play to hold me over until Fallout 4. What's out there that's good. No Witcher 3 as it looks too involved. Was looking at Project cars but without a wheel probably sucks. I bought RIDE but I hate it, bikes are so hard to control and the AI is to good even on easy.

Have any decent but cheap or relatively cheap wheels recommended for pc?
Compatible with ps4 as well would be a plus. |

It was originally routed to be behind the mobo, but the cord length is too short to do it that way. It basically takes all the length just to get to the connection point and so I'm locked into the way it is unless I can get some sort of an extension for it. Maybe I will just find the right connectors and make one myself, but I have a hard time believing such a thing doesn't already exist.
