Smile As much as I loathe asking this...One day at Disney - talk to me

I don't loathe asking because I hate Disney, I don't. I loathe asking because I know it's going to yield wildly different opinions, so sorting through will be challenging. Yet, here it goes.

I'm going to be in Orlando for a week in November. I have one day to visit Disney. I've never been to anything Disney, so figured I'd give it a go. I don't even really have a good concept of what Disney even is in terms of an experience.

Again - I have one day. That's it. I can't swing more, so please don't even suggest it.

Given this: What would you do to get a decent Disney experience?
-I like roller coasters and rides
-I like food
-I like pretty things/fantasy type stuff. (For example, I enjoy the Rainforest Cafe concept.)
-I don't need to see African animals in a pseudo African-environment
-I like Pixar and the animation
-I would prefer not to be in a bathing suit
-I'm staying offsite, near the entrance to Universal Studios

The website is just overwhelming. Help.

Epcot has really great food (The Moroccan restaurant is my favorite) and crappy rides.

Universal / MGM have great rides and crappy food.

Disney has crappy food and crappy rides.

Sea World has great rides and crappy food.

I went to Magical Kindom last September for half a day. That's all I got.

As an adult guest, without kids, I don't think anything other than EPCOT would be a good choice for a single day.

I've probably been to DW over a dozen times.

I won't go to Sea World, out of principle.

What is Epcot?

Is Universal/MGM part of Disney?

Spinning things make me nauseous.

The number of parks/section is overwhelming. I'm confused by the entire scope of this place.

Eat a turkey leg and take a picture and post it here... People everywhere walking around with huge smoked salty turkey legs that smell like ham. I have no idea what the deal is but apparently lots of people do snap them up because everywhere you look people are walking around chowing down.

There are 4 parks, you can only go to one in one day... (they probably do sell a 1-day park hopper pass but it isn't worth the time and $ to switch parks on a 1 day trip).

Splash Mountain (in Magic Kingdom) in November will be very fun and not wet at all that time of year, in August its a different story.

Expedition Everest (in Animal Kingdom) is a cool coaster

Mission Space (in Epcot) is rather neat if you like feeling like you are going very fast.

Use FastPass to manage long lines.

Plan carefully and pick one park (since it is your first ever visit, go to Magic Kingdom). You can make reservations (priority seating arrangements) at a sit-down restaurant but if its a 1-day adventure, skip the 2-hour waste of time and enjoy walking and buy stuff on the go.

I've invested too many trips to WDW and my kid wants to go back next year.

Edit: Go early (be at the gate before it opens) so you can beat literally 30,000 people to everything. You can accomplish more in the first hour in November than a large family will do all day in easter-break.

My best trips to Disney World were just the wife and I. But that was back when Pleasure Island was open and you could go from 6am to 3am all day and night in the parks and then downtown disney drinking and enjoying the night...

Stay for the fireworks - I don't care how much you don't like Disney (I personally do) but they do put off an amazing nighttime show at each park.

By all means go to Universal. No, it's not part of Disney, that's why it's better. The rides/food are way better.

Go to universal. Pay the extra to be able to cut line. Without kids, you'll be able to ride so much that you will puke. Then, you can cut in line more and simply drool.

I want to go to Disney, though. I've never been, probably never will be again, and want to see what all the hoopla is about.

I like rides, but I don't need to go for the rides. I've been to Cedar Point enough times.

Also - has anyone eaten here? http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/din...a-and-alberts/

How are the queues for the rides? I don't want to spend most of my day in them.

OK Walt Disney World (Orlando) has a few major parks:

Magic Kingdom
Animal Kingdom
EPCOT
Hollywood Studios

Magic Kingdown is mostly all about the little ones. It's the most classic park that kids associate with DW. It's very big and it's all about the rides/3D movies, and the characters.

Animal Kingdom is pseudo-Africa. Obviously not where you would spend a vacation day.

Hollywood Studios is dedicated to the film industry with lots of attractions and less thrill rides. This is also good for adults, but it's quite a bit smaller, and I consider it more of a 1/2 or 3/4 day park

EPCOT has two separate parts, World Showcase, where they have lots of pavillions each showcasing a different country. Food, working staff, shopping (alcoholic beverages!!!) all in the theme of that country. The second part, Future World has pavillions that are more science, cultural and earthy, and are focused on a bit of an older crowd than the kiddie stuff at Magic Kingdom.

Other than that, there are water parks, you don't want that.

Universal Studios and Sea World are in the area, but completely separate companies.

Bring your AMEX platinum diamond unobtainium gold card because everything costs a fortune.

Go in a wheelchair so you can 'jump the queue'.

It has been years since I've been there.

Coasters:
Twighlight Zone Tower of Terror
Space Mountain (something about being dark and unable to see things clearly)
Expedition Everest sounds cool, but I've never ridden it.

Food:
50's Prime Time Cafe - service with a 50's attitude and feeling, kinda fun and chintzy
Epcot and eat food from the various "countries" around the lake

Fun:
Muppet Vision 3D - huge fan of Jim Henson, so I enjoyed this

Stay Away From:
It's a Small World - I go catatonic whenever I hear it after riding that one

Haven't dined there. If you want the original Disney experience, go to the Magic Kingdom. Be warned, yelling, screaming, crying, nose-running, staring, puking kids infest this park.

So, looks like Epcot and Magic Kingdom make the most sense.

Is there booze at MK?

Im actually going next week

Epcot if you'd be more interested in food. But how much food can you get in a day?
Magic Kingdom if you want to see Disney.
Animal Kingdom A bug's life is the only thing Id recommend on that park since youre not interested in other animal things.
Hollywood studios for the rides

I say check out the activities and parades list. See if any interest you. Then you can pick a park.
Optionally, get a park hopper pass. Youd be running all over all parks, but you could see all.

My GF has been there 14 times. SHe says queues for rides in Nov is not bad. As in not more than 5 mins. Well see when I go there next week. First time I went to Disney it was in March. Queues were in the hours.
