They installed MetroNet in my neighborhood recently. While I've been satisfied with Comcast overall, I'm open to switching if it'll save some $.

Anyone have experience with MetroNet?

I tried to call to actually upgrade service possibly, either static IP or to the business cable internet.

Their damn departments were closed! 7am-9pm. No redirects to India, etc.

The hell? I mean...ok...that's fine also.

So confused.

A non complaint for comcast!

Called to lower my bill, since my 2 yr contract had ended and bill went up from $70ish to $103. Got into another 2 yr contract for $75 with more internets than before. I did lose HBO, which well, GoT is over so nothing of value was lost.

Guess I need to gripe about something.
Upload speeds. Cable modem uploads are damn slow. I needs some fiber in my internet diet

Anyone here use Comcast Mobile?
It uses Verizon's network for voice and data, and relies on Comcast's wifi hotspots for everything else.
It is also cheap. I would be paying 45 + taxes and fees for unlimited (throtled at 20GB), where right now Im paying 65 for 7GB on Verizon.

FYI - Not sure if you are bringing your own device but not all devices are able to be brought over.

I looked into Comcast Mobile, but I don't like the idea of having to use their public(maybe they aren't public?) wifi hotspots anytime you're near one instead of cellular data.

bringing my own device, and I already have Comcast so I save the $20 connection fee.

You can disable auto joining their networks.
Ive used them and they are open but you have to log in using your comcast credentials. Most of their rented modems have wifi hotspot forced enabled, reason why they claim to have such large coverage.

Reading around Reddit, some like it, some dont. Par for all services out there.

That's nice your device is allowed to be brought over. My wife and I have Motorola Moto G6 phones (yeah yeah they are cheap phones) and we can't bring them over.

So what's the deal with using your own Roku set top box and ditching the Comcast box?

Weird. Were you remoted into my work laptop this morning? Or looking at my phone last night?

I was researching this last night/this morning. I am TIRED of paying Comcast $6.99/month for the DTA box in the bedroom.

I can get the Roku Streaming Stick + for $50. They have a Xfinity Stream App (BETA) on the Roku and from what I've found it works pretty well.

From my research (over your connection), it's still free while it's beta, but a 'per tv' charge is possible, etc. But I haven't found anything super recent.

How would they know you have it on X amount of TV's? I mean I guess they can find out anything but I doubt they'll charge you per TV that a Roku is connected to..

Just recently downloaded the app on my roku. No 5.1 dolby support, some minor user interface issues (if i click on a show under "recently watched" I can't see other episodes in that season, I have to go back and search for the show to select another episode in the season)

Not terrible by any means, but it has been in beta since 2017. I don't know how long a software development cycle is but that seems like a long time. I also don't think comcast is in any rush to polish it, that just means money out of their pocket.

A user!
What did you use it to replace, a secondary TV or your main? Does it have DVR functionality? Do you give up any channels?

replaced main tv because no coax outlet in the area we're using the tv in (renting so can't run another coax connection)

unsure about dvr, but I'm guessing no since its streaming .

Don't believe I gave up any channels, I just used it to watch the local news while making breakfast this morning.

Why Roku Ultra over other models?

Set top has a bit more horsepower, plus I got the 2018 version which still has wired ethernet and it's going to sit right by my router so why clog the wifi.

Thanks. I was just curious. Mine will be in the master bedroom which is 2 rooms from the router.

I just bought the Roku Streaming+ model. I'm going out of town tonight through Tuesday so I'll set it up when I get back.

Roku Ultra came in. Perfect picture until I start streaming, then it keeps going black and coming back. Google says this has been a common problem for over a year and Roku has no idea why it happens to some people. The recommended "fixes" didn't work for me - like many other people. Boxed up and sent back. Got the Chromecast today, will try it tomorrow.

Damn! That sucks. I was away Sunday-Tuesday so I'll try to hook it up tonight.
