Same, I'm still parinoid 5 years out. I'm cut, the s/o has had one of her tubes cut (long'ish story) and the odds just aren't there for us. I still worry.

Yeah I do the tighties in the winter, but in the summer I can't deal with the swamp-like setting that occurs when I have all my business cramped together.

Just made my appointment for Nov 5th!

Plus it's free since I work for the hospital! Another plus is it's only a few floors above where I am now.

No Mini-I25s in this world

I have mixed feelings about that fact. I would see you share your legacy with the next generation. But I understand. Stacy and I were talking last night...I'd have my Z06 were it not for the kids.

i don't know why some dudes seem so psychologically hung up about this.

like, NO INTENTION TO EVER HAVE (ANY MORE) KIDS, but still can't come to grips with it.

Meaning I don't need a kid to carry on a legacy. What I do during my life will define me. And w/o any children I can focus even more of my life to obtaining my own goals.

You don't get why people wouldn't want any kids?

Or You don't get why people can't understand why someone doesn't want kids?

Bingo.

Kate, the girl I was recently dating was like this. We got a long with EVERYTHING...except the kids area. She loves them, thinks they are Kracken's gift to the world. But I don't want anything to do with them ever. So this past Sunday we talked and I told her it's better we end this now and not years down the road.

So I took a batch to the lab so they could analyze it for swimmers, and after filling out their paperwork, the lady tells me that they don't accept my insurance. I tell her not to worry about it and give her a credit card. It's not like I can just take the cup and drive around town looking for someone else to look at it.

Today, I got an email stating that my claim was not covered, and that I would have to pay out of pocket. The cost? A whopping $21.75.

i admit that was pretty unclear...

i meant that there are some guys who have no intention to have offspring yet still harbor some other non-rational fear of getting a vasectomy.

it's peace of mind, imo!

Is it really? No nagging feelings of if **** healed and you're no longer shooting blanks? No worries of side effects?

When I had mine done, the doc snipped, clamped, and removed the middle bit.

Ain't no growing back here.

Side effects of what?

Of the operation itself. Though rare I read there can be some pretty bad complications.

I'm no doctor, but I'm betting when they cauterize the ends it dramatically lowers the chances of the vas rejoining.

any "side effects" you'd care to name?

Though rare, pregnancy is a very annoying complication of NOT having the surgery.

It's such a quick and easy procedure. The doc and I were cracking jokes the whole time.

One quick google return because I don't feel like duplicating my amateur research

http://www.news-medical.net/health/V...lications.aspx

Quote:
Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome

Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome (PVPS) is a long term complication of vasectomy, a chronic scrotal pain of varying intensity lasting more than three months, possibly indefinitely. It is an uncommon condition with an unknown incidence. The pain can be orchialgia, pain with intercourse, ejaculation, or physical exertion, or tender epididymides. Another study found that nerve stripping provided complete relief in 13 of 17 cases, and that the other four patients improved enough that they were satisfied with the results.

A more comprehensive list:

And yes, probably rare. I just get so tired of hearing how it's no risk and soooo simple.

Your article even says in the rare event that happens, they are able to fix it.

In the event of a kid, that's a pain I have to deal with for the rest of my life sadly.

"uncommon condition, with unknown incidence."

So, they heard that it could happen, but never bothered to ask anyone or do a study to find out how often. Good work.

And yes, there's risk to EVERYTHING.

The most common side effect I've seen is guys who don't rest properly and end up straining themselves down there before it's all healed. So they end up feeling extra pain for a week or more because of it.

Guy I know was complaining a week later of pain and soreness down there after his. The day after he got his procedure done he was at home depot pushing around a heavy ass cart of like landscape rocks or something. Not sure what part of "take it easy for a few days" these people don't understand.

Orndog: first documented case of gynomastia due to snipping

I had about a week of slight discomfort, minimal bruising.
it is soooo simple
