Default Dear FedEx and UPS...

So here I am expecting a package from FedEx and now I cant even go to the bathroom in fear that the delivery guy will be a ninja that will knock (not use the door bell) and just delay delivery till Tuesday. FedEx home works Saturday but not Monday.
Ive had some of those ninja delivery guys which leave the truck far away so I dont notice when they come by. Wont work for this package as they need my sig in person.

Here's an idea. Use the delivery route system to give estimate times for delivery.
It should not be that difficult. Routes are already planned in advance, GPS can estimate distances and times, cellular signal can update the database updating time of delivery. Is it that freaking difficult?

Call up FedEx and they will tell you that the package will arrive between 8am and 4pm

Maybe I should work on that software, or the patent. Cash in on the idea

FedEx Ground/HD does not plan routes in advance.

Need to put a lolcat in the poster

I once signed the paper they leave, and left a note.
He wrote back: NO!
He really wanted my autograph

no? I think they should then. Would save them time and gas, which equals to money. I guess they need to invest in the software/hardware first.

Is FedEx HD related to UPS using USPS on some deliveries?

They did as far as I was involved...maybe each center does it different. Also don't you remember when UPS banned left turns from their routes? How do they do that if they do not plan the route in advance?

Made similar signs before - Grammar was a little less proper? haha

Dear Mr/Ms/Mrs Fedex person who is going to fake knock on my door and not deliver my package that is already 2 days late. Please sign the following name and leave the package right where you stand.

^^ Had a fedex guy that wouldn't knock he would just leave a note on the door (was sitting in living room) and heard him drive away - no knock - just a note...

They're contractors. Ultimately it's up to them how they want to do it. HD does have turn by turns available for contractors that want to use them, but they suck hairy monkey balls.

FedEx Home Delivery is part of FedEx Ground. HD is meant to deliver primarily to residences and Ground primarily to businesses. They both use the same hub system, and many are out of the same terminals.

Man, I've done this a couple times over the last few weeks. Spent the whole morning carefully doing nothing too important. Both times the delivery occurred at the end of the day.

I placed an order from Domino's last night, and before I closed the web browser, I noticed a progress bar. Basically it tracked when my order was placed into the oven, and who did it, when my order came out of the oven and went into a box, and who did it, and when my order left for delivery, and who was driving. I didn't even have to reload the page; this all happened in real time.

So if Domino's can do crazy web integration over a stupid pizza, surely the package shipment industry could do something that updates an ETA every time a package is delivered. Even if it narrowed it down to, say, a half hour window, I would at least know whether or not I could take a shower right now.

nice.

You know I and a lot of customer would be happy if it were narrowed down to 2 hours.

I have to take the whole day off from work when Im expecting a big package, like my 46 tv. Cant fit it on the car so I cant pick it up. Cant sign the note to leave at door because I dont want any of my neighbors to get a free tv.

So I have to wait, and when I wait home packages usually get delivered after 4, when I work half day to then go home to wait packages they deliver before noon which makes me miss delivery.

On a normal day, I have 75-100 stops on my truck and I can do them any way I want. Part of town I might cross traffic because it's not rush hour and other parts I might do one side and then the other so I don't have to. I might do one part of one town and loop back later because I have pickups in the area later in the day. Some days the first half of my route is heavy and the latter is light and vice-versa, so maybe I'll be at a given point at some time one day, 2 hrs later the next, and 3 hrs earlier than the original time the next. Even if everything is consistent, some days I may have a stop that takes me 30+ minutes to do. I've delivered 100+ computers and monitors to places that don't have docks or easy access, and that takes time.

There are so many variables that it's impossible to pin down a time. The best we can do is a 2 hr window and even that's not guaranteed.

Pizza guy has 1-2 stops at a rip. Plus, it has to be at your door 30 minutes after it leaves the restaurant. It's pretty easy to pin down a time within those parameters.

thats kinda tough for them to do...at dominoes everything is in the one building...at fed ex it gets scanned in when they pick up package...then gets scanned again and again when it goes into other buildings and planes and trucks...so there is much more movement with a fedex package in numerous places vs a pizza thats contained in one place then goes to a car then to the person who orders it...less chance of a screw up with the pizza

What really chaps my ass is that if their ridiculous delivery hours don't work with your schedule (because you have a ****ing normal job) then they tell you to go pick it up at their depot. HELLO, I ****ING PAID YOU TO TAKE IT TO MY DOORSTEP. NOW DO IT, SCUMBAG.

This is very true. UPS is #1 for a reason.

You should see some of the roads I deliver pizza on! Some customers are lucky if they get their food at all.

Possibly because UPS and Fed Ex are different companies

Because that's your ****ing job. If you can't get the package to the customer, you're just driving around in a truck for no reason.

The package delivery place knows what truck the package is on, most of the trucks have GPS tracking...expose that so people know where their truck is.

The main problem...that seems to exist all over the US....is that the FedEx HomeDelivery contractor bastards NEVER KNOCK or Ring the doorbell.

EVER.

That is not a normal behavior, is this something they are trained to do? Why?

HD brought me some wheels, since I pre signed he just stacked them up in front of my door...blocking the door. For the signature required stuff, they rather leave the note than ring the doorbell. W.T.F.?

But he didn't ring the bell or knock....I was 4ft from the door on the couch.

I'll just say this. My job requires shipping out a TON of packages every day. UPS is our main carrier and we use FedEx for I'd say 5% of our business. The shipping software for UPS is light years ahead of FedEx in every way. What takes me 15 seconds to do with Worldship, takes me three times as long with the FedEx program. I'm not even gonna get started on international orders.

It shouldn't matter who has been around the longest. Sure, UPS has more money than God, and the manpower to back it up, but it all comes down to who gets parcels to their destination the fastest, cheapest, and most importantly, undamaged. UPS wins.

Its his job to deliver packages, not to work to everyone's personal schedules. if he personally called every customer to find out when they'd be available he'd be working from 6 in the morning to 11 at night.

The problem with vehicle tracking is that I expect the number of breakins on vehicles would go up if you could tell where every truck was at any one time.

This is why you get 3 attempts. It's called good faith. If you're too lazy or useless to try and be home during any of those 3 attempts, that's your problem. Your package will be available from 7am-7pm at the local terminal for 6 days until it's RTS.

No Fedex Ground/HD trucks have GPS tracking on board. Do you really think we want you knowing where our trucks are at any given point so you can order something small, find us, pull out your pistol and walk away with a bunch of computers/ipods/etc? We can be carrying anything at all, from junk mail to things worth $$$$.

Ding ding ding. Not my fault they only pay you $1.50 per box, lord knows they charge me plenty to ship with them. I guess my last delivery driver has a "**** you, customer" attitude like you do, then.

I'm lazy or useless because I'm............ AT ****ING WORK DURING THE DAY LIKE MOST AMERICANS?! Awesome mindset there, champ. Also, I don't pay them to have to drive out to some goddamn depot behind the airport, I pay them to DELIVER THE ****ING PACKAGE TO MY ****ING HOUSE.
