I'd also pimp a SEiko SAmurai, though it's big:
http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-Automati...1589842&sr=1-3 I like black better, but here it is in white:

Boccia watches are cool: Titanium and they have some simple designs. They are very light of cours. I think this one is about 150$ |

Mine since 2002. IIRC, I bought it from Princeton watches for somewhere in the neighborhood of $220. |

So far the only watch that I really like is the Seiko 5. I'm going to go to the mall sometime next week and see what they have at Macy's and the watch stores there.

I just started looking into watches and after reading this http://www.forbes.com/2003/12/03/cx_ns_1203guide.html
I've decided i wanted a quality mechanical watch. Why? Because Forbes said so. |

Google skywatches.com for a huge selection of Seiko & Citizen automatics. It's in Singapore, but I bought from them and received my watch the same week.

Although I drive a car made by a premium auto maker, with an antiquated engine, a transmission like a high maintenance woman, and non-power assisted steering, I'm still not convinced about mechanical watches being "it." Automatic watches are always more expensive, and made by more exclusive brands. They still won't keep time like a quartz and will stop running if you don't wear them for a while. It's all personal preference, do (buy) what you like, for your own reasons. |

If you're not familiar with the term "Superfake," I suggest you get acquainted with it.

I've become a fan of Bathys watches. They're well made and rather inexpensive for the quality and materials. I have a Benthic.
http://www.bathyswatch.com/ http://www.bathyswatch.com/main.php?..._mens_bc-bb-bd They're designed in Hawaii and handmade in Switzerland to his specifications. Pretty impressive stuff. John, the owner, lives on Kauai and is a super nice guy. I have a standing invitation to have a beer with him next time I'm over there. If you like the military divers look, you can't go wrong with the GSAR (tritium-lighted automatic diver 300m $675) or the TSAR (tritium-lighted quartz diver 300m $450) by Marathon. They are government-spec and actually used by Coast Guard, NASA, and other government contracts (unlike Traser, Luminox, etc.), and are killer values for the money. Gotta love the tool-watch look. I'm loving those Seiko Military watches. I want to get one with a black face and metal bracelet.
Any suggested retailers? |

SOVIET PARATROOPER WATCH Three needles, adjustable bezel, date calendar. Green face with red star and paratrooper emblem. Signed "For Admirals". Mechanical. 18 ruby jewels. Leather strap. Gift box. R023P $44.95 I don't really like the red and black bezel, why is it like that? Where can I find/buy Vostok watches??? That looks ****ing ballen! I wish it had a date box or w.e. on it, I always look at my watch to see what date it is. I really like how this one looks, but that's a custom order. The usual chronograph looks like this. That's it, I want a Vostok watch. I think they look very cool and unique and some people in the WIS thread said they're good watches. What do you guys think? Also, should I just buy one from that ebay vendor or are there other places where I can purpose Vostok watches? |

Utility defined ^
I like mine, big, easy to read, display. Displaying two time zones comes in helpful at work. Compass has actually kept me from getting lost a few times. Barometer/altimeter is less useful, but still come in handy from time to time. Accurate within a second or two over a month vs. aviation GPS. Battery died? Use a nickel to remove the cover and slap in a new CR2032. The fitness logs you can download are pretty neat as well. I think Suuntos are great. |

I like my Casio GW-300. Had it for 5 years now and I've only had to replace the band (couple of weeks ago). It sets itself daily and is solar powered. Quite possibly, the last watch I will ever own....(J/K, I'm sure it will die someday, but it has lasted me 5 years without so much as a hiccup in operation)

Entry Level Seikos are good.
Skagen makes a good watch. Most are under $200 new IIRC Nixon makes some nice more contemporary looking watches within your price. |
