Is it overpriced garbage?

Wondering if it runs in the family.

From his thread, which is awesome, looks like it drains to a 5 gallon jug?

I always wanted to do something like that. If I had the $$$, and put in a 4x4 drive to a Ford Econoline, etc- I'd be totally in. I just like them better

Probably. I just laser cut all the stuff and weld it up. Rest is up to him.

It drains into a 6 gallon plastic jerry can strapped under the sink. Water is drawn out of a 5 gallon Primo bottle also strapped under the sink. The rack for the bottle and the black strap are visible in the photo.

We wanted a simple setup. We can exchange Primo bottles pretty much anywhere there is a grocery store, Walmart, Lowes, etc. Easy to find on the road. And the jerry can grey water tank is easy to carry and dump. Plus, I can winterize in about 2 minutes. Very little to go wrong. The Whale Gusher foot pump works great. Flows more than most RV sinks that have a pump.

When you're off the grid I don't think high flow in your sink is necessarily a good thing!

If it’s for the overlandy set it’s definitely way overpriced and will likely be extremely popular if found on Pinterest/Instagram.

It is nice when filling the coffee pot and water bottles/bladder for cycling. Easy to just jump faster or slower to adjust the flow from a trickle to a "gusher". I can flow just a few drops, for instance, when I am wetting my toothbrush.

Good deal. We don't drink the water that's in the plumbing. I'm sure it is perfectly safe but...

Pretty safe in our rig. The water comes straight out of the sealed Primo bottle (bottled water), through about 3 feet of tubing, and out the spout. I could change out all the tubing in 5 minutes if need be. Between trips, I drain the tubes, so it stays pretty pristine.

Yeah, we have a big rig. You can drain the system but I doubt the tubes (PEX) would ever completely dry out.

Wife and I will be living in the camper for the summer while we look for a new house so decided to upgrade a little. Sold our 2018 Avenger 21RB for $3k more than we paid for it 3 years ago and found this 2018 GD 2670MK.

Will be calling this site home for the next 4 weeks:

Possibly first and only Boondocking trip of 2021.

The rest of our stays are in parks.

So the 6v batteries are 3.5 years old. Not that they've lost any noticeable power capability, but I decided to head down the Lithium rabbit hole.

There's a 200AH 12v battery on Amazon for $799 from Ampere Time. This self-contained unit contains a 100 amp BMS. From what I have read, it contains no low thermal protection, which is NOT a problem in Arizona. Despite an estimated 2 week ship time, it arrived in 4 days. MIND BLOWN.

Install was challenging. The format, which is more of a guideline, is Group 8D. It is too wide to fit the battery location on a standard travel trailer. I built up a platform and used ratcheting straps to secure the battery. It is essentially already in a box, right?

Still, leaving a $1000 battery in plain view while parked somewhere wasn't ideal, so I researched for a box, and found a group 8D would work. This turned out be the maximum size box you can fit in my trailer, as it takes up ALL available space!!!

Next issue, all the onboard charges are designed to handle SLA or GEL style batteries. My converter is the stock 55amp unit, and my solar controller also only handles SLA/GEL profiles. A Lithium battery has a SOC that is best between 13-14v. Your SLA charger will see this and decide the battery is full and float along at 13v. Essentially, the Lithium battery will never really get charged.

So the upgraded converter is about $200, and a budget conscious MPPT 20amp solar controller was $100. I decided on upgrading the solar for this trip and installed a Rich Solar 20amp controller.

Now, the boondocking trip was 5 days, and as you can see we had a LOT of shade. Each day we would end up a tenth of a volt lower, but the battery handled it like a champ. And by the time we were taking the trailer back to storage, the battery was full again.

So, if you are thinking of ditching your SLAs, then I do recommend Lithium, just realize it's not quite as plug n' play as it seems.

That seems like a lot of money for not much return in capability or am i missing something? I'm sure it is significantly lighter than lead acid batteries and should last longer. What prompted you to change?

How many watts of solar do you have installed? I actually just replaced my older 12V lead acid batteries and switched to (2) 6V GC2 lead acid. I'm currently only running 200w of solar and fits my needs for boondocking in the CO high country where it got down to 20f every night. Meaning the fan for the furnace did run quite a bit with the thermostat set at 52f. Needed to change out my 12V batteries as they were still usable but at 6-7 years old now. My refrigerator does not run on 12V DC so that is not a draw.

Found on YouTube. That Ram 2500 Cummins Mega Cab only has 2,040 lb payload or so, explaining this idiocy.

Cape Point Campground, Hatteras National Seashore

That's a very simplified version of our trip. It actually ended up being more like 7,700 miles as we crisscrossed NC several times to visit family and went off the interstates a bit more than 10 waypoints could show on GMaps. Adding in the trip up from LA, I put over 9,000 miles on it during the first 6 weeks of ownership.

It sure taught my kid to beg for a camping trip.

We boondocked when it was cooler, but since it was usually over 100F in most of the country at the time, we spent most evenings at full hookup sites with the A/C blasting.

Ours does have a heat pump, and I hope to get some use from it in the PNW. We're hoping to try camping at Whistler this winter if the border situation doesn't get f***ey again.

The motorhome was rode hard and put away wet, for sure. I think the previous owners rented it out. We also got it for about $30k less than the going rate, so I've been fixing things as I go. I'm pretty sure the dealership got it as a trade-in and just wanted to be rid of it. It had an airbag light and too much oil when I drove it off the lot (I got it drained off within ~20 miles.. but it was bout 5qts overfilled.. it takes 13.2qts). I fixed the airbag light by repairing the seatbelt wire under the driver's seat. The compressor fridge had a bad seal, so it would ice up.. but the drain wasn't connected properly, so the water was rusting the sheet metal on the front of the fridge. The dealership had attempted to fix this by masking off parts of the fridge and covering the rust with some krylon. I stripped & repainted the metal properly, scrubbed the overspray off the interior, fixed the drain & seal, and now it works great. I've got Fox rear shocks (semi truck rebuildables.. revalved specifically for campers on the 3500) on order. I replaced the rears with Bilsteins and installed a huge rear sway while I was in NC, but it needs more work to not be blown around by passing semis. New tires all around with front Bilsteins are next.

I've upgraded the OEM automotive house batteries with 6V Costco golf cart batteries (about twice the usable Ahr) & a bluetooth shunt, and upgraded the bathroom vent fan with a fancy MaXXair with thermostat and remote. Huge improvements. I've got a bunch more stuff on order to repair and upgrade components. Hoping to jump to a large lithium setup once I can get a solid deal on some batteries so that A) we can run everything in the coach off the batteries with a 3000W inverter (current 1000W inverter only runs a few outlets and the TVs) and B) we can run the A/C (with soft start) for the dog when stopping on the road for grocery shopping, etc while travelling without needing to run the generator.
