I could watch James May do anything and be engrossed.

Hell, I watched him reassemble a lawnmower and was entertained.

Ed Zachary.

Jeremy and Richard are fine in their own respect, and the three of them together are obviously great, but I'm totally fine with their triumvirate dissolving as long as James May continues to do...anything. Literally anything. Making sandwiches with plenty of Lurpak spreadable butter? Yes, totally engrossing. Nearly having a seizure because he was laughing so ****ing hard at a stupid Japanese robot hanging from his neck? Absolute comedy gold.

they definitely did a tearful goodbye to having 'studio' shows - only these big episodes from now on

Meh.

Beautiful filming. Comical vehicle choices, absurdly bad wheeling in front of support vehicles, comical storyline. This is no North Pole special.

It's like Mr. Bezos sent dick pics to somebody and lost half his money, and Mr. Willman lost writers or something.

Jeremy made a comment in Réunion about jumping the shark in 2013-

Watched it with the GF. We watched James May’s cooking show together so she at least recognizes him and likes his humor.

Madagascar is gorgeous and we both had some good laughs. It’s kind of what I expected and Keith your definitely right but it was still very enjoyable.

The Caterham would have been perfect had it had a roof...

It was a fine special. We watched. We laughed. We enjoyed.

But I think the "jump the shark" joke was well timed. I think I might be over it. These three did great, but the formula is dried up. They've trekked on difficult terrain many times now. They've been to the north pole and to the desert.

I dunno. I just don't feel it the way I used to.

May is my favorite of the group - he’s got more versatility than the other two, as evident in Oh Cook, Man Lab, etc.

It wasn't their best but it was the first content in almost a year, so I'll take it.

The jumping the shark quip

as part of that joke Clarkson said they jumped the shark in 2013. which wikipedia says that was the find the source of the Nile special, sure on that one and subsequent ones there were periods of laughter, but I'd agree that they just seem to plug parameters into a computer now and let it make the script.
