Default Tool Thread...

I'm curious if other members would like to see a tools thread or sub-forum.

Thinking along the lines of anything from buying advice to chronicling rebuilding of old tools to just shooting the breeze.

post your babies here.

I would have been disappointed if first 2 responses weren't exactly as I expected. Well done.

I was going to get tickets to see them in June, but my coworker offered to buy them for a group of us and then reimburse him. Then he forgot to buy them.

I only buy the finest overpriced chrome plated **** from some roaming dude in a truck who lets me finance on a weekly basis because I'm an idiot who makes poor financial decisions while also thinking I need to impress the other fellas at the quick lube shop with an $8k toolbox I don't need.

I think that about covers it.

I mean, you probably don't need anything except the finest harbor freight and northern tool stuff... But some real mechanics benefit from quality hand tools.

My most recent creative purchase was a battery adapter.

I've bought into Ridgid cordless tools. But they are not as comprehensive as say Ryobi or Dewalt with outdoor tool options.

Well an ebay seller makes adapters for X battery to mount into Y tool brand. So I have a Ridgid battery to Ryobi tool adapter.
https://www.ebay.com/sch/buildgear/m.html?

He/she makes a ton of other variants. Came out to almost $100 US. It's a simple 3D printed piece.

I have an old Craftsman floor jack. When it stopped working, due to lack of hydraulic fluid, I filled it with brake fluid. 10 years later, it still works fine.
