Talking Need help identifying an engine swap

I have a 2002 wrx sport wagon with an ej205 in it. I was told that it may have had an engine swapped into it at some point in its liftime. I don't have any documentation or a way to get it. I've scoured google but couldn't find distinct answers. Is there any way to find a vin number on an ej or be able to determine if the car has had a replacement engine? I've heard there is a vin on the tranny but not on the engine. Any help?

Get someone who knows what they are doing with subarus to look at it. If it has the stock heads and intake on it then it doesn't really matter what the bottom end is too much.

Why do you need to know?
