Wild times with these updates!
02-07 wrx or STI have a lot of decent standalone options that work great 08+ will soon have cobb flex support 08+ also has great standalone options BUT more $$ than the earlier year do to the OEM CANbus and huge stock ECU (butt loads of inputs/outputs). Here is a semi budget friendly option and info about what's coming from Cobb to fill the new gap: Cobb green speed tuning options and race car solutions. I have to tune a lot of Cobb cars and honestly while this update sucks for lots of us it's not nearly as bad for MOST subi owners as they think. I also believe it's important to remember this JUST happened and Cobb is already working on solutions/alternatives. I completely agree hard pill to swallow here BUT i also don't think it will be half as bad as people think. We will all still get to enjoy fast/fun turbo engines!

I’m not going to start a political debate here but I will just make one statement. They might have said it was under trumps admin in 2017 but the prior people appointed to admin of EPA were both dem. They start the process prior and it can be a several year ordeal. A bunch of presidents get credit/blame for something done before them. Both of trumps admins 17-21 were rep and didn’t support climate change. Look at the list of admins. Thanks, Randy Sent from my iPhone using NASIOC |

I though cobb sucked for abandoning the 2002-2005 wrx which is where they started. Now this just reinforces what I felt before. You can still make power with the emissions stuff still on but I hate the hoops they make you jump thru just to use their software.

I still have mine along with all incremental update installers up to 3.4.0-19918. I thought this software was bound to the physical Access Port device? Can any 2008 install package work with any other Access Port that targets the same model year ?

I am not advocating any illegal mods to cars or any tampering with emissions equipment. However, you will need to do the following to prevent the recent announcement from impacting you. This is oriented to the folks that actually do sanctioned automotive racing using accessport. For everyone else, use this information as it best suites you.
To prevent the software from checking the internet for updates, enter the following in your host file. #This nukes AccessPort Updates 127.0.0.1 www.accessecu.com #This nukes AccessTuner Updates 127.0.0.1 software.cobbtuning.com #Not sure what this blocks but perhaps block it anyway 127.0.0.1 static.cobbtuning.com This file is located @ C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts You will need to be running version 2.x version of access tuner. It seems versions 3.x and up have some type of forced activation check and will not launch w/o an internet connection. This fix also prevents accessport manager from updating and prevents the online verification stuff. I tested this with 2.0.0.0-16775 & 2.1.3.7-17905. 3.0.1-17252+ seems to have an online activation feature in AccessTuner that won't let the app start without presumably calling cobb. This is as much as I could test because I don't have all versions of their software or use their stuff anymore. Went standalone years ago. Hope this helps some of you. R.I.P. Cobb
R.I.P. Cobb.
I had to come back (let my last turbo Scooby go over a year ago) and thank Cobb for all their support and Accessport in particular over the years. Thank you guys. Sorry to see you go. Subaru ended the STi. Probably should think about ending the WRX, too, if they don't give it 400 hp from the factory. (I know there's Ecutek and open source.....) Cheers all! |

Is there a place to find the 2.x version? I've got version 4.0 installed, but not the update yet and I'd like to see about getting an earlier version if possible.

Now I'm reminiscing about the old days of OG Accesstuner Race, when you could tune just about anything without jumping through hoops. Late night tuning sessions with friends, cruising around in real time adjusting stuff, no classes needed, no crippling updates required.
It's funny, when Tesla released the $2000 acceleration boost for long range AWD cars, I remember people (who had never modded an ICE car) complaining about the cost. I just said "you're getting more power and you get to keep the warranty, with no worries about CARB or the EPA. This is a great deal" and that is definitely looking correct now. |

That's where I got my tuning start as well. I remember being thrilled with the ability to adjust boost per gear so you could actually use first and second gear without roasting the tires.

I just got my 13 WRX tuned on Cobb Flex 2 weeks ago. A week after that the fuel cut at 5500 like limp mode running ~E60. Threw a code for running rich. Sonofabiden
