pop's was on JCFD for 29 years. picture of one of the rigs he worked during his career - ladder 13- not sure of the date of this picture though, looks pretty old.

quick story: we lived outside atlantic city growing up, he would commute up to JC every 4th day for his shift. he got out of work 9/11 at 7am and was heading home, heard what happened on the radio and pulled over to call dispatch. believe the order was the stand down at first, he was almost home so he stopped home, packed a bag and drove back up to JC. spent the next week up there as far as i remember

I was in my senior year of high school in Virginia. Was headed to 3rd period IB World History when I walked into the classroom and our teacher had the news on. Both planes had already hit the towers and the Pentagon had already been struck, and there were rumors about a 4th plane still in the air.

We watched live as the fires worsened and we could see on the live feed that through gaps in the smoke one of the towers was no longer there.

We also watched live as people jumped, and saw them fall on live, no-delay TV. And then saw the 2nd tower fall.

A day which will live in infamy indeed, and more diabolical than December 7.

It's amazing to look back and realize what we gave up in the name of fear, and the endless damage done that continues to be done for the same reason.

I was in a JROTC classroom. Teacher hung up the room phone, went to the desk in front, put his hands on the table leaning on it, looked up to us after deciding to just tell us the truth after spinning in his head how to break such tragic news to us. He said, "We've been attacked...."

What a crazy day for all of us. Never Forget.
