I am 53 and have a WRX. It was a company car. Company car requirements were 4 door sedan, above 25mpg and under $27K. I figured the WRX base was the only fun car I could get that fit that criteria. I just didn't tell them it was a turbo car or a 6 speed manual. When I showed up at the office with a hood scoop and loudish exhaust, it definitely opened some managers eyes. Well the company just dissolved the fleet so I bought the car.

Damn ... Some awesome Subie stories in here!! Age 33 here, dreamed of '02 blue wagon ever since the first time I saw one posted up front & center at the dealership. Older Audi wagon turbo 5speed was the next best thing I could afford, and drove for nearly a decade, till I found the right one at the right price -- wrecked and abandoned for 9 years. Spent its first year with its last owner being fixed up .. Put 30k on her since and no signs of slowing down!!

37 year old here. Been wanting a bugeye since I test drove one when they first released. I held off because prices were high and went different routes. By time I wanted to actually purchase most were abused and destroyed by young kids. I finally grabbed one last year after finding another 30+ year old adult owned taken care of bug.

Congrats on the 2021 STI. Since it's equipped with the RA internals you got a strong machine for years to come.

I am 31 years old with a 1-1/2 year old kid and I bought a 2005 WRX a few weeks ago. I had a 2014 Impreza 2.0i before and thought it was sluggish and boring. My son absolutely loves the sound of the car and always want to go for a ride

My daughter works for a Subaru dealership in Dallas, is in her mid 30s, and is on her second WRX/STI. Her new one is a 2020 and aside from the kiddos - is her pride and joy! lol

Last time I posted in this thread I was 31/32 and then totaled my 2013 WRX. The first car I bought new. I don't expect to be in the market for anymore new cars, as I prefer buying used. I'm hoping to get another WRX, either a GR or GD. I don't really like the looks of the VAs, they look too much like Corollas with a hood scoop and are the biggest (size-wise) generation yet. I have a love/hate relationship with them, sometimes I like them when they are tastefully modded, and other times, they look too pedestrian.

I already bought a project car, a Fox Mustang and put it in my garage. I'm hoping to get a 2010 CTS-V for my DD and if that pans out than an 02-07 WRX down the road as I can't afford both. The 2022 CT5-Vs are badass, but at a price-tag over $100k, I need to live somewhere. Even the CT4-Vs are at a base of $46 and I think you can top them out at $59k. I'm just the kind of guy, even when I have money, I prefer to search for the best deal and i'm just not into pricey cars, exception being GT350s. I remember when I used to have my 99' GT and had the money to buy a new Vortech, instead I spent months piecing together a headunit from a Crown Vic, mounting brackets and bolts, and other random parts for about $1900, instead of $3750. Vortech prices have gone up a ton since I installed it in 2008.

Well said and I agree. Sometimes purchasing used privately is the way to go especially when you will be modding the hell out of it. You can buy fully built cars for under 10k with 500hp going to the wheels. Someone has sunk 20-30k over the years and I prefer to now buy the work someone else put it in because it just makes better sense from a fiduciary prospective. I'm 36 have a 2016 wrx and it's modded and next time I definitely won't be buying new and modding. I'll stretch my money much further buying used and picking up where someone left off
