To Shed some light on the 2008, this is something we have been putting together. Lots of good pics of the 2008 and how the 2008 is different.

Looks like great work Jeff.

I was interested by the V-band flanges...great idea. Also nice was the idea of making your tailpipe or midpipe flanges match with the OEM, allowing more individual choice in exhaust system setup.

That is the idea, more choices for everyone. Also the V-band is a cool thing, and our solution to this normally very expensive connection is very good. The price our systems(current ones) isn't going to change when this occurs, and the 2008 WRX will come with them.

good info Jeff!

Has anyone tried to put the legacy SPT intake on it yet? I had the parts guy at my dealer xref the PN for the 08 stock parts with the legacy stock parts, the numbers aren't the same, but I'm still curious!

Was in a hurry when i posted . . . sorry I purchased a set of aftermarket 17" wheels for my 02 and I wanted people to know the bolt pattern did not change and the wheels fit great!

Jeff,

I was digging in my trunk earlier, the sedans don't have the charcoal canister inside, I can take pics for you, if you like, but I guess that's another difference!

In the Hatch, they are all under the steel flooring in the trunk. So its not exposed with out pulling those parts off. I didn't take apart our sedan too far, but it has the same steel cover. It all should be there??? I will take a look later today.

ahh, I didn't pull out any steel covers, but I have had to get to the spare, and didn't see anything that looked like the shot from the hatch.

When will the exhaust system for the sedan be avaliable and price?? I guess this will be the only difference when it comes to performance upgrades and parts for the 2008 WRX's sedan/wagon?

turbo should be a vf40, when i bought mine its identical to a legacys gt motor, looks like they just went legacy to wrx. i just need to figure out how to turn the boost up to the 13 psi the legacy gets, then ill have the 250hp as the legacy has. any one have stock dyno numbers on these cars.

every indication I've read says it is the good ole' td04 with a modified inlet housing to mount to the legacy TMIC.

none the less, it looks tiny as hell.

So by xreffing the Parts for the LGT DP and the 08 WRX DP we can see that it is indeed the same part.

524202 Subaru WRX 2008 ; MT
524202 Subaru Legacy GT/Outback XT 2005-08 ; MT

and therefore, any DP for the LGT will work for the 08 WRX?

cause, I liked my stromung shorty dp on my 04 WRX.

According to a Perrin online sales rep, one other thing that the 2008 WRX does NOT share with the LGT is that the '08 WRX has a NON-catted uppipe like the '06-'07's did. Just thought I'd share that here.

TRUE! No cat. BUT you can legally replace the OEM catless Up-pipe with a PERRIN version and it works to make more power! We have done it here on our shop cars. There is improvement across the RPM band in both torque and HP. Jeff has some dyno results some place to share here I am sure as well. I believe the gains were 7 trq and 10 HP.

If I can help any clients, just let me know!

Get that dyno sheet and make a thread about it. I guarantee there are a lot of people that will be interested in finding this out.

The mechanical o2 sensor fix is just 2 spark plug anti foulers screwed together with one drilled open a bit to fit the o2 sensor in it. As such it doesnt matter what year/make/engine you use.

As for the downpipe, until there is engine management out, you dont want to do a downpipe or you risk blowing the motor. Im not being overdramatic there.

this is contrary to pretty much everything ever stated or written about an 04+ subaru.

i just picked up a 08 blue WRX sedan.....i was looking on ebay at the perring legacy GT mufflers, not the cat back but just the mufflers, they look like they will bolt right up to the 08's dual exhaust.

Traded in my 06' for an 08' sedan. So far so good, feels a little sluggish around top end but it definetly spools faster. The clutch will take some getting used to, i stalled it twice while test driving it. The release point is so much lower than the 06'. Does anyone know what the black plastic latch looking things on the exterior of the car between the doors and roof are?
