GD STI getting seat reupholstered
Anyone know of any shops that do good work with reupholstering seats, specifically STI seats? few years ago I got the lower portion of my driver seat redone by a shop that specializes in classic car interiors, they did a so-so job. So I'd like to investigate a bit more into this.

Are you wanting to keep the cloth, change to leather or try and fix the existing?
I replaced the leather on the seats in my 4Runner, using replacement covers from leatherseats.com. It's not a difficult process, just slow going. I've considered doing the same with my 06 STI front seats but then my motor decided it wanted to have issues, so the seat upholstery is sidelined for now. |

Gotcha. Post up if you find something. I'm sure those of us with older cars, like my 06 STi, would like a source to replace the Alcantara covers on the front seats if possible. (google said it's alcantara in the center with cloth outers, dunno if that's accurate tho)

It has been a few weeks. Any progress?
I want new covers for my 2015 Impreza. The "Dickies" brand i found at WalMart were cheap--too cheap and not worth the effort to install them. I tried to remove the passenger seat to do a better install, but could not disconnect the yellow air bag connector for that seat. I slide the black spring-loaded tab back, but still couldn't separate the two halves of the connector. Is there a tutorial on disconnecting electrical connectors? Has anyone found a seat cover or upholstery they can recommend? I think I'd like to stay with fabric, but am open to other options. Is anyone else frustrated by the search engines that return FAUX leather when I am looking for REAL leather? I would love to hear recommendations either for or against specific covers. It is too expensive to buy them and then not like them. |
