Quick question for you guys, I'm in the 2012+ forum, but since our cars share some similarities, I was wondering if any of you had swapped the steering wheel on this car? Did you run into any issues or benefits doing it? Messing with removing and installing the airbag is somewhat putting me off going too crazy with this idea.

I swapped my steering wheel and plasti dipped my airbag at the same time. No issues, swapped to an OEM Wrx wheel. Essentially the exact same thing in black with wrap on it.

Disconnect your battery, pump your brakes a few times, then wait an hour for good measure before unplugging your airbag.

You need to roll the fender more. My stuff is 7mm further out without rubs.

However, you have 13mm more inner clearance them me. You could get adjustable LCAs and run more camber.

Hey all, been awhile. Up to 190k on the car and having an issue recently. Steering is extremely stiff, when leaving a parking spot... need two hands to turn. Zero whining, no noises or anything. Thoughts? Steering pump replacement, steering pump o-ring failure? I am NOT losing any power steering fluid, still slightly above the full mark.

FYI, the steering rack was replaced about 5k ago since it was leaking and would whine on cold start ups when it was 5-10F outside.

In my resarch online for failed steering pumps... most of the threads talk about hearing a whining noise, I don't have any of that.

Thank you guys.

tighten your power steering belt. I'll bet you anything it's just a bit too loose.

Negative, not the power steering belt, all tight.

I'm noticing some blow-by on the return line from the power steering pump. Going to see if it is the O-ring. The pump is getting fluid because when I have the car on and turn the wheel, I can see the fluid bubbling around in the reservoir, so I don't think it is the pump that failed.

I had some weird steering stiffness but it would usually go away before I get out of the parking lot. Felt like a manual rack.

I have a leak in my rack and the system was filled with Lucas Stop Leak which is super thick syrupy stuff. So I just attributed the stiffness to the thick fluid.

Maybe throw in some Power Steering System additives? In addition to stopping leaks the Lucas stuff works to recondition seals and gaskets. My steering did feel noticeably smoother.

Hmm, thanks for the tip. The stiffness doesn't go away in mine... it is constant. Drove the car on a 10 mile loop last night around town, hard steering the entire time. Obviously easier at speed vs. in a tight parking spot.

Weird. I wonder if there's a clog in the lines. Thicker fluid might break up a clog.

My 17x9 +35 225/45 never rubbed and neither do my 18x9.5 +30 225/35. It's all about offset, camber and modified fenders. Mine are all rolled and pulled. 8k/8k spring rate so not even that stiff.

I don't know much about the sport model... how is it different from the base 2.5i? The engine must be the same, which means I would be cautious about the performance mods, especially the intake. I've been reading forums for years and I always see cautions on cold air intakes for subaru engines.

Mechanically its the same, i think, but it was the rear bumper defuser and the side skirts like the wrxs with no hood scoop

What color print on them?

If you install them regular way w/o the factory mud guards (no extra drilling) and do not like them, and have all the hardware, etc still, I'll probably buy them off you if you want to sell them.

I'm thinking about removing my factory mud guard and just use the Rally Armor flaps. Mainly just so I can easily remove them and clear out the junk that collects in the fenders once a year or so.

Picked them up slightly used on the classifieds... There either silver or grey, haven't really looked at them with proper lighting yet to tell, the seller wasn't sure as i think he got them on the car when he bought it or something... There in pretty good shape. Ill try and mount one up without drilling them for my oem mud guards first and see if i like them before i put the extra hole in them.

So I may have gone to a true Catless straightpipe and added a 20x4" blast pipe... And it might be obnoxiously louder than I could even imagine.

You're running RS headers? I thought you had Rallisport.

That looks like it would be a very annoying sound
