Subaru Stars Emissions : What is needed?

So I broke a Valve that is part of the emissions system, according to the dealer anyways, and i was wondering if I could just eliminate it completely. Its a valve that sits under the passenger side of the intake runners and has a line that runs up to the throttle body. If i made a bolck off plate for the EGR valve could I take all this stuff out...it sure would clean up the engine bay a lot if nothing else. I would like to take everything out that I can and the car still run properly
