Valve cleaning with water injection vs Meth.
Hey guys, it's about that time to do some walnut blasting, but I'm lazy and I like security. Has anyone tried straight water to clean the valves? I know that meth will, but I'm just looking to toss in the most basic thing I can on a stock car without any tuning or messing about. Just a basic Snow kit, with a boost referenced switch at 8psi.
Also, how long would it take meth to get the valves back to a nice and smooth surface? One or two spirited drives, or would it take a few hundred miles? Thank you!

From my understanding, that won't clean them back to "like new" if they're pretty dirty. It is more something that would be beneficial to do after a walnut cleaning. Get them nice and clean, and the WMI will keep them clean(er).

You don't need to tune for water/meth, you just won't get much additional performance out of it if you don't. The computer is quite capable of handling 500 ml/min of meth without tuning.
With that said....the install of the system sucks if you do it right with the tank in the trunk and the head unit under the dash. On the upside, there is no need to do it all at once so you can spread the pain over a few weekends. While I like methanol, I would do neither meth nor walnuts for the intake valves unless you actually can feel a power loss, which may never happen. Joe |

It's actually for the wife's car. It sits in stop and go very often, and usually ends up heat soaking between drives during the day in the summer, so it definitely will be an upgrade, even without tuning. I already have a sprayer rigged up to the intercooler, but that only helps at speed.
I'm gonna scope the valves when I get the chance, so I'll keep this post updated. If they're clean, I'll just skip it. |

My aem v2 kit was a easy install..wasn’t difficult at all if you follow the instructions, I am tuned for the meth but I enjoy it..gives it a little more go cause e85 isn’t readily avail in my area Look at aem v2 kit, works great over 10 gallons of boost juice already and not a hiccup once..bout 40k miles on it so far |

Do you really think one would easily feel whatever gradual power loss there may be in the time it'd take our valves to become crusted over with carbon and sludge? Probably not.
