We went for a walk on Saturday on a 10' wide paved "rail trail" near the beach. A-hole runners getting too close when they pass and even bigger a-hole parents blocking the trail with their double-wide strollers and kids. I felt much safer on the golf course.

My state just got "locked" down and the guys on my golf group text are freaking out. Thankfully the question was just asked in the press conference, and golf courses are ok.

I would have had so much time to practice and it suuuuuuucks that the public course and range are closed. However if range balls get infected and all scrambled up, you gotta figure, the range is a breeding ground of Covid-19.

Doesn't look promising for New Jersey anytime soon. Pennsylvania and New York are shut down too. At least I'm only 90 minutes to Delaware.

I am guessing most courses will take the assistance and shut down out of public safety and the outcry that will come if they don't. I 100% get it and it's not an essential business, but it is exercise and white people like it so the system will find a way.

Ohio courses are back open with the restrictions in place. But to be honest I dunno how likely it is that I'll actually play. I don't wanna get paired with random people just yet (my brother feels the same)
But I did just buy a hitting net and 3 different thickness turf pad for use in the garage. Those are gonna be hard to find very soon. |

On a positive note; I just found out my company managed to switch over last week to producing hand sanitizer instead of Listerine. |

Watched all of these like 10 times last night. LOVE that stinger swing. The setup. How on top of the ball he stays. Magnificent.

My club is still open and I played last Friday and Sunday. Awful. My swing was JACKED and I was pulling/hooking it probably half the shots. I shot a 96, which is my worst score in over 5 years I think.
I went to the range Monday night and think I solved it, we'll see tonight when I play. On another note, a good friend of mine that is a member had a phone consult with his doc today due to chest congestion/cough and a fever, and is being tested for Corona virus tomorrow. I have not played with or been around him myself the past month, but I have seen him at the course quite a bit, including playing with his elderly father. I really, really hope it is negative, and both his wife and his father are both immuno-compromised. |

I hate it when your swing gets jacked out of left field. Go to the range and think you've worked it out, but you really don't know until you get out again. Been practicing with my Putt Out putting aid. I definitely feel like it helps with putting feel and dialing in distances. Aw crap. That sucks to hear about your buddy, especially concerning news about his parents too. I just found out a coworker of mine passed away this weekend from this. He was in his late 40's with no known health issues. Left behind his wife and kids. They didn't even get a chance to see him in the hospital or say goodbye even though he was in for a week. Too risky apparently. So bloody sad. |

Hope your friend is OK...this is all very scary; especially so when it's someone that you know.
I have not played any golf yet, even though all of my home courses are open. I'm still a bit scared/skeptical of playing with people that I don't know, when I still see people every day just around my area not taking the social distancing thing as seriously as they need to. My sense of unease hasn't really gotten better, because I also lost my job. The good news for me is that I didn't see a future for me there (and I didn't care for the work), and I got just over a 4 month's severance (w/ 6 month's paid for health benefits) while being able to collect unemployment (whenever that gets processed). My wife and I are in a very good spot financially, and she just took a new position with a more local company making a good deal more money w/ full benefits from day 1. Still, it's a bit nervy to go through this all. Though I will say that I am looking forward to receiving my hitting mat and net (by Friday), and to sit down and watch the final round of the 2019 Masters (will be on CBS this Sunday). I'm not entirely sure why the Masters YouTube channel doesn't have the 2019 final round, but this will work. Cheers |

I decided I was tired of just using my PuttOut over and over again (plus the weather this last week has been really nice) so I bought a net for the backyard. Putting it together for the first time made me feel like an absolute moron (there were no instructions) but I figured it out and paired it with my Garmin G80 ... spent the whole afternoon in the backyard ... loved every minute
I know the G80 will never be a Trackman or Skytrak replacement, but it felt good swinging the clubs again ... there's actually a bunch of games on it that are a lot of fun |

I just wish it would stop raining here. It's beyond annoying when the only place you have to practice is standing water
Probably have to get a net just to practice the basics or else I will probably regret it when this blows over. |

Past few days here was 60s. Today a quick storm came through and now it's 40s and windy. Trying to convince my brother to do a skytrak setup. He has the room for it, works for a software company so he can the projector and that stuff for probably free, my cousin and myself are pretty handy for building the studio. Probably cost us $1500 a guy. Need to convince his wife.

Phil's nickname of FIGJAM is one of the most accurate nicknames for a specific person ever (F I'm Good, Just Ask Me)
New hitting net and mat to actually be delivered tomorrow! The weather will be nice enough to use it this weekend, too. |

Have you ever used the Rapsodo launch monitor and can you compare if so? These look like fun I'm just not sure I'm ready to drop $500 for one though. https://www.amazon.com/Rapsodo-Mobil...6973232&sr=8-1 Damn, I just looked up a Trackman. $15k. |

I'm tempted to start looking into cheap launch monitors. Ideally I'd love the SkyTrak system but since I no longer have my job, it's tough to justify spending that much.
Also, expect to pay $25k for a new TrackMan (or a Foresight GC Quad or Hawk), and then you'll spend over $1000/year for the software subscription. Rich people problems I would love to have! |

The downside of course is that there is no direction feedback with the G80. Hitting into a net, you have minimal idea of whether it sliced or hooked ... whether it was a stinger or a flier ... I mean if you’ve been playing long enough with your clubs, you know when you’ve hit a good shot, but with a G80, you’re getting swing/ball speed and a decent distance estimate. It’s nowhere near the GCQuad or a Trackman or HD Golf (these are the sims I’ve tried ... I’m intrigued by the Skytrak, but have never seen one in action). I used to use a watch on the course, but now I strap the G80 to my bag and get my general ranges with it (still use a laser when I feel the need to get more info). Is it worth the money? Probably not ... but few toys generally are |

The PGA and Greenbrier resort have agreed to terminate the final seven years of their contract, effective immediately. The September date will most likely be used to reschedule one of the many weekends that have been scrapped so far this year.
