Default FKL & DAM Concern.

Hi, as a first post I have this concern that I would like some assistance or clarification on.

My car is a 2020 WRX STI with following mods:
- CYL 4 cooling mod
- oil catch can
- Cobb AP running stage 0 (using for viewing gauges mostly)

So last night I went out for a drive, weather was cold (56°F). As I was on my way back I did I pull from 4th to 5th then to 6th. And I noticed my FKL & FBK were around the -4. ranges. DAM was fine and untouched until later. I noticed then that my DAM had dropped to .562 with my FKL fluctuating between -2.8 and 0. So I had pulled over in concern and listened for any noises of any sort of knock and heard nothing. Let it idle for a bit to cool off then shut it off for a while. When it was time to drive again DAM was still at .562 which I didn’t expect to go up so soon but the FKL was still fluctuating on my way home decreasing the range the more I drove. EX— 1.4-0 then .6-0 etc.

Every other drive DAM has never dropped in that way nor has my FKL fluctuated like that. Only difference I did tonight was fill up with MOBIL and a bottle of royal purple octane booster. My usual go to is SHELL 91oct with the octane booster as well. I use the booster in hopes to decrease knock and provide my STI with “higher” octane quality of fuel such as 93 or so. (SoCal has 91 pretty much everywhere)

Sorry for the very long post lol. But I hope many of you would be able to help me.

Thank you in advance.

I am by no means an expert, but it just sounds like bad fuel. Mine hates anything but Shell. Sounds like the ECU is doing its job and protecting the engine. Just drive conservatively until you can run that fuel completely through and then refill at a familiar station.

That’s what I was thinking/hoping for. Hopefully more replies can confirm on that as well. But thank you so much. Appreciate it

If this happened after filling up with MOBIL, then I believe it's safe to say that its bad gas. Once you refill with shell reset ecu and hope for the best

Try using the 91 (ACN) map . instead of adding octane booster .

What’s the difference for this map? Curious because I’ve been getting some pretty consistent feedback knock and fkl on my stage 1 tune

(ACN)MAPS has Slightly lower boost, richer fuel curve,Less aggressive ignition advance ...to compensate for poor quality fuel
