Well I don't know if we'll get this exact engine, but in the high 200 range (probably between 260-285.) As for timing, expect late summer or fall 2004 as a 2005 model, but expect to see it in foreign markets next winter. We will probably be seeing lots of info on the next gen Legacy starting this spring and summer though.

Absolutely Jamie! Maybe by '07 or somewhere there-in Subaru will not only be touted as being exclusively AWD, but also exclusively Turbocharged too! With the 1.5L, 2.0L, 2.5L and 3.0L engines in various states of tune, they can do it and have one heck of a line-up. (That's more of a dream than a likely reality though.)

Default re: legacy turbo

I have heard that 2005 will bring a 3.0 H6 turbo to the legacy and outback legacy line-up producing around 350 hp/360 lb-ft of torque....

Oh baby!

Just have to hold on a little longer....

Turbo-only, like SAAB. It makes a lot of sense, if you think about it.

I have always said Subaru is Japanese SAAB.

Don't even make jokes like that. The 2.5T would fill me with delight. The 3.0T would leave me too paralyzed with joy to be able to actually drive a car.

So true GTBuy.

As for all those wagon lovers out there, I can guarantee Subaru will bring a Wagon version of the 2.5T sedan model to the US as well since it is supposed to be the current GT replacement.

it would be great if someone knows what the timing will be. for months on this site it was pretty unanimous that the new legacy gt with a turbo 2.5 wasn't coming out until fall of 2004 as a 2005 model. but a couple weeks ago there was a post stating that it would come out in the fall of 2003 as a 2004 model. i am certainly interested because i will trade my 2000 legacy gt wagon in for a new all wheel drive wagon next fall. if subaru does it next fall then my car will remain a subaru, (i have had 3) if they put it off it will be either a passat W8 awd with sport suspension, or an audi S4 wagon. hopefully it will be the new subaru as i have really enjoyed the three i have had, although they have been underpowered and under suspensioned. oclvzrx

Everyone says 2004 for a 2005 model, so you might as well go start test-driving those Audis and VWs. But in 2005, check the rear view for the Plieades grille logo coming up VERY fast. It will be a grinning Legacy owner. If it's the 3.0T, you won't see the grille, just the blur.
