Talking Dealer just told me $29,300

Highly doubt that, but he insisted it would most likely be below $30k. I guess we'll see...I'm putting a deposit down this week.

if this car is $29,300, I will definitely buy it. I agree with jblaine, get the price in writing and make sure your deposit is refundable.

Which probably means $34,995 since that is technically in the lower half of 30,000 - 39,999

I bet they'll come through with a good price. Sure maybe not under 30k, but defidently low 30's. When the WRX was coming out, not many people though it would be under 25k.

If anything under 30 happened I would be completely shocked... I think the low thirties from Subaru is pretty accurate... I think a good price point for them to hit would be $32K. It's high enough they don't lose their shirt, but it's low enough for people to justify the cost of the car without throwing in the obligitory "you paid how much for a Subaru"

If I had to sell both of my kidneys!!!

This is "the car" I've wanted for a very very long time now... so yes... I do plan on getting one... course price is going to play a big roll... it's going to be a large budget stretch.

I have also been in line with a deposit for about 1.5 years now! Only crappy part is I'm #3 in line... might have to call SOA and make sure they have my color in stock! hehe

$29,300!

That will kill ALL WRX sales. Would you pay $25K for a WRX when you could get an STi for $29,300? SoA can make a killing on this car - they've got a captive market who will gladly pay for the chance to own an M3/M5/350Z/RX8 killer.

They have to put the car out of reach of WRX buyers so that they will desire to move up to the STi when they sell their WRX. Therefore mid 30s seems much more realistic. The STi is technologically superior to the old Audi S4. It seems logical to assume then, that its price will be closer to the S4 than the WRX. OK, so the S4 had the Audi name and better interior, but the STi is superior everywhere else. Factor in "additional dealer mark-up" and applicable sales taxes and I suspect out-the-door prices around $40,000.

The real question is will that STi drivetrain be a straight bolt-in to a WRX and how much will SoA sell a crate motor and tranny for? $10K, $12K, $15K?

Are you guys daft? You don't think there is going to be HUGE dealer price gouging. Like the S2000 the Track 350Z any SVT, etc, etc..

The L.L. Bean starts just below $30k. If it's cheaper than the VDC Wagon (<$33k base), it'll be a bargain. Gouging is gonna hurt though.
