Subaru says inverted struts are for better bending rigitity, much like on a motorcyle I guess.

damn guys, you are all waffling like crazy.
Inverted struts are where the piston in the strut is a static unit mounted to the base of the strut, the part that moves is the silver tube. This tube is hollow, hence why they are a big diameter like 45mm, the piston runs inside this tube. On a conventional strut the piston is mounted on the end of the shiny rod and runs inside, against the strut lower body, thats why they are usually smaller diameter rods. The STi5 Struts are KYB |

Waffling???... Belgian waffling???... J/K, my brother-in-law is English and he occassionally says things that I have to think about. Anyways, it seems from more reading (not reding) that the struts are inverted for rigidty and mrbells V5 inverted struts are heavier, so that's good enough for me.
