Thumbs up STI @ LA AUTO Show

Just an FYI for you SOCAL guys. The STI, w/ new headlights, will be shown at the LA Auto show. Probably so they won't get out shined by Mitsu. As for the SF auto show, we got screwed.

Will they really show the STi? Hopefully.

Somehow I get the feeling SOA prefers to keep the goodies for the Detroit show.

Detroit is always around the same time. Typically, unless it is an LA debut, they will have the car on display later in the week after it has been shown in Detroit. Did this to the C5 when it came out, I went early in the run and it wasn't there, saw it on the news from LA a couple days later.

I got it straight from the horses mouth. He said Subaru will be using LA as the stage for launching the STI

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't trust any Subaru news I heard from a horse!

When talking w/ a Subaru rep at Sears Point last weekend, he also stated that the STi would be at the LA Autoshow. So, that seems like a very strong possiblity.

To add fuel to another STi rumor, I read in the SF autoshow brochure/book thingy, in one of the segments about the WRX, that the STi would be coming out w/ "just under 300 hp." I don't think 260 could be considered "just under" 300, even with marketing's constant use of over-exaggeration, so maybe we could be looking at quite a bit more hp than earlier guestimated. Fingers crossed.

The official launch is going to be held in Detroit and the STi will be shown in LA later in the week. If you're going to see it, go towards the end of the show.

I heard exactly the same thing about the Mazda RX8 from their reps at the Miami Auto Show. Go later in the week.

They'll probably do it just like they did the WRX. It Debuts in Detriot on the Press Day(likely a Tuesday). The LA Auto show has already started by this point. The next day the STi will show up in LA and be publically on display in LA before it's publically on display in Detriot.

Far away from YOU?!?! Try livin' up here in MT, the nearest thing to an auto show I've ever seen around here is in the vacant lot down the way, there's like 5 people that meet there every weekend in their "new" dodge stratus' and neons :P

I'm flying in myself for the show. There should be no less than 10 production car debuts this year. Should be a great show
STi
Evo
Corvette C6
Mazda MPS 6
Bently GT
SRT-4
and more...

Thumbs down New update...

Spoke with Tor from Renick Subaru this morning. He indicated that the STi will not debut at the LA auto show, rather the Detriot show will have dibs.

His reason for this is an argument that took place between the LA show coordinators and SOA. I am still hoping for the best since I live in CA just south of LA.

I would love to see my new car sooner than expected!

Tor is right, the STi will NOT be at the LA auto show. The unveiling has been changed to the Utah Auto Show in Salt Lake City.

Somewhat off topic but important (to me) nonetheless. Will the constant pushing back of the STi release date (based on rumors of course) to some time in the fall of 03, change the guestimated summer 03 release of the 04 WRX? This is really killing me.

Does this have anything to do with COBB possibly showing a COBB tuned STi? Kinda makes you think, COBB is in Utah as well....Hmmmmm
