Default Help! I think the dealer just blacklisted my waranty.

Well, when my friend was helping me put on my downpipe..he stripped the 02 sensor so I needed to get a new one. After searching online without luck, I decided to just go to the dealership. I asked my mom to go pick it up while I was in school today. I told her that if they ask why I needed it, to just say "because". So of course...my mom completely does the opposite. He says that they need to order the part. He asked her if it was for a modified vehicle ..and my mom said yes. Then he goes...we need the vehicle's VIN number to place the order. My mom gives him her information and he pulls it up on the computer.

I think im fecked.

Yeah theres not much they can do.

As far as I know...
You cannot simply "void" someones warranty. The only thing you can do is deny coverage if they feel the mods done to the car caused the damage in question.

If you put an exhaust on the car and your power window fails... Its still covered no matter what. (assuming your still under warranty)

But the lesson you learned here about not allowing mom/sis/GF/spouse to help in car projects:
priceless.

Not unless you are going to expect warranty to cover your own mess.

You are going to pay for the replacement sensor, right?
Right?

Thank God. I just got a little scared there because I remember when I put the turboback on my other friends EVO and the same thing happened to him...he was like ..."Im not going to the dealer , they'll be like...What do you need that for....Uhhhhh Nothing." Haha.

I was just curious though. When you throw a P0037 CEL for not having a rear 02 sensor. Does it pull timing/power?

subaru is not as closed minded about modded vehicles are many other companies are. and yeah VIN is standard procedure at dealerships, even if you ask them to scratch your !i!i!i they need the vin, it's just the way it goes.

However I don't see any reason for them to have asked about it being modded unless they have a special sensor that will not throw a CEL on cars with modded pipes, perhaps one with a wider tolerance range, there was some kind of issue about that. they talk about it quite a bit on this forum, but i've never had that problem so I dont know much about it.

No. Get engine management and it will go away.

I do have engine management. Cobb Accessport. I was a little shocked too when I threw the code, because I thought the Accessport would have gotten rid of that. However, I guess that you still physically need the sensor there. The Acessport just gets rid of the code for not having cats.

What sensor are you talking about? The sensor in the DP, or the rear 02 sensor?

You say you were working on the DP, and you also say P0037 rear 02 code...

Im confused.

Yeah....the rear 02 sensor....the one in the downpipe. Its not in there. Hence the p0037 code.

I think you might be confused as to what sensor is what. If you arent, I am.

Either that or the 07 is different which is very possible.

The 02 sensor that bolts into the downpipe...right before it meets the catback.
