Default Gas Mileage

Hows the gas mileage on your STi? I got my STi couple days ago, and I am having average of 17 miles per gallon. I am still braking in my motor so I have not driven that hard yet...

Default gas mileage

I have had my STI for almost two weeks now and have 300 miles on it. My first tank I got 17 miles per gallon. I averaged 22 miles per gallon with my WRX.

Depending on the way you drive, these kind of super-performance cars can dip into the low-teens. These figures are pretty good.

I think C&D's test trials put real worlf economy in the mid teens.

I get 20-21mpg on my E36 M3 (I know.. it's only a 240hp I6)...
I was hoping that STi will get at least 18.... people on their first
300miles are only breaking in the engine (being easy with their
cars)... and it really surprise me that they only got ~17mpg

I'm getting about 16 - 18MPG on my evo. I dont drive it hard but sometimes I have a burst of boost crave and need to floor it. The evo has a smaller tank than my old eclipse gst so i'm filling it up more frequently. It costs me about $23 - $24 to fill it up with 91 octane california pee.

The first full tank I put in I got 24.4 mpg. 322 miles on 13.2 gallons. The second full tank will be in a few days. I keep hearing the rev buzzer, so I don't think I'm driving overly conservative.

Wow, that's great!! I've never been able to go over 230 on 13 gals. The tank on the evo is 13.9 I think and i went WAY under the E looking for a gas station and it only filled up 13.1 gals. Out of the 13.1 gals the most i have gotten is like 224 miles. The evo feels like a gas guzzler but it really has been getting better over time. My frist tank lasted 160 then the next 180 and i was really babying it. My friend has 4000 miles and he gets a consistent 250 miles per tank on his evo.

Thats very impressive for the STi. 322 miles...wow.

Yep, I was getting down there. The low fuel light came on about 5 miles before I got to my station.

Once break-in is done, I think I'll probably get around 22 mpg average.

My commute is pretty good for gas mileage, even though it has about 6000ft of elevation change (roudtrip)!

Do you think that ECU learning could be going on in the first 1000 miles? Any techs out there know an answer to that? I think that the guys from Sport Compact Car magazine reported their Project WRX ECU had a long (but beneficial) learning period.

The new M3 is rated at EPA 16mpg in the city, 24 highway. That's a normally aspirated 6cylinder with 11.5:1 compression. When you push an engine to the edge of it's performance envelope, something has to give.

The thing that the STi and M3 have in common are close gear and axle ratios. Meanwhile, the Z06 "Yestertech" engine is rated at 19/28. It's 6th gear ratio is incredibly high. When you have displacement, you don't need to compensate with close gearing.

If you want fuel economy... Buy a vette!

19.84 MPG on my 1st tank (242 miles on 12.2 gallons).

Currently at about 340 total miles, and the gas guage is a little over half.

I have over 1200 miles on mine and have not gotten below 20 mpg even when driving it "sportily". Have you guys figured out we have two trip meters? At first i was like, why would you need two? Then my genius other half said that you could use one to keep track of how many total miles on a long trip and how much mileage you are getting out of each tank of gas. She's a keeper.

My EVO has 1500+ miles on it, and the lowest I've gotten was 18mpg over a tank with lotsa boosting and runs to redline on it right after I cleared the 1000 mile "break in" period.

The highest for a whole tank was about 26mpg while still breaking the engine in (over half highway miles).

I'd say that my "norm" for my suburuban commuting (no 7k rpm "racing", normal driving) in my car is about 12 gallons per fillup for 250-290 miles, whatever that works out to be in mpg...

I'm pretty happy with the mileage actually, it's ALOT better than what my Z28 gets!!

dang, I'd be checking that tank for leaks, when breaking in my EVO I never got less than 260 per tank with my commuting mixture of city and highway driving... however, if you are 100% city driving, I guess I can see dropping below 200 with all the constant accel/decel and stopping killing your mileage...
