..yeah you add driver and fluids and you still don't get 4,222.. even if your driver is Andre the Giant!

Use some common sense man!

it means the car can carry an additional 1000 pounds. so after the driver you still have quite a few pounds to play with.

Now can this thread return to gettin more info on the sti's review and ignore dubbs total lack of common sense(which seems to be becoming more and more of a problem in this world)

EDIT: OT I went to the mitsu dealer the other day to set up a test drive since Im still undecided between the 2 cars, and in the accessory display they had a set of RED lights Guess the complaints finally got to them

So did Motor Trend take the time to explain why a car with 271 HP can beat a car with 300 hp with both of them weighing the same and both being AWD?

Since it appears motor trend uses some electronic means of getting times and a correction factor instead of a drag strip it is possible that they miscaculated somthing on one or both of the cars.

Sounds like both of these cars are awesome. Looks like you can't chose wrong no matter which you buy, and it's good that people with different goals can pick their car based on what strengths they want.

I don't see why so many people are in a big huff about this. Competition = good.

(I'll take an STi now please!)

Quit dreaming, Loser.

The STi obviously did not meet expectations you guys set for it while the Evo surpassed my expectations.

Nothing went wrong with the electronics, the Subby lost. I'm sure lots of people will be taking a second glance on their decision to buy the STi now in favor of the evo.

I dont think most of us have a problem with the competition the only reason people seem upset is because there is nothing to support that the evo is faster in a straight line, it has taller gearing and more horsepower so unless the driver was granny shifting the sti to hell this doesnt make sense.

Personally, I'm all for this review if it means I move up a couple of places on the waiting list..

..but what's all this about correction factor? Can someone explain this to me and how it's calculated?

Yay the trolls are here!

Fact is this report runs contrary to everything we've heard from people who've driven both. I'm going to wait until some more numbers are in before I'm convinced...

Ive always been looking at the evo, I havent made my decision yet but I still think the sti will be faster in a straight line. I am not being biased between the 2 cars but these acceleration numbers just dont add up.

Does ANYONE have this magazine in front of them?? ANYONE?!?!?!

I've been subscribing to Motor Trend for over 15 years now and I didnt receive my new issue in the mail yet........

BTW, Motor Trend is by far the worst car publication when compared to Car and Driver, Automobile and Road and Track.

Who has this issue?????

Just to say, i'm in Montreal, Qc, Canada. No idea why I get all my magazines before folks in the US (I receive R&T, MT and C&D)

yeah, what he said!!!!

go back to evolutionm.net if you want to cause trouble. and also if are so damn smart, why don't you stand in front of the class and explain to us how the EVO can be faster in the 1/4 with much less HP and same weight as the STI even though Shiv drove both and said that the EVO handles better but the STI is much faster in the 1/4 and in staright line?

i am not bashing the EVO becasue i am still thinking about both cars but i just don't see how these numbers are possiable.

so go back and solve some math pysics problems and come back when you have something useful to share with the class.

Hmmm, as I can see, some of you don't believe I have the MotorTrend in hand!!! Anyway, just wanted to share what was written for all of the STi and Evo enthousiast, anyway, you'll see i'm not one who report BS, just what was written in the magazine.

Also, as I said in my post reported by MT:

*** A tenth here, an mph there. We suspect that WRX fans will lust after the STi, whatever the Evo can and can't do. And vice versa"

Cover is:
Dodge Viper, Lambo Murcielago, Corvette Z06, Mustang SVT Cobra, Ferrari 575M, Mitsubishi Evo (!) AND MORE with a Viper and Lambo cars...

People who think I started the thread for fun and BS will see in a few days when MT will be out.
