According to this graph that I found, Aust. will also be getting a 2.5L if you look close, there is a listing for a 2.5L wagon

http://www.fhi.co.jp/english/section...ubaru_001.html

It looks like they are refering to engine sizes. That looks promising for those of you who want the wagon STi.

----------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT

I feel pretty stupid...I completely spaced the 2.5RS and 2.5RS wagon........ D'OH!

I have been looking all over for the weight of the US spec STi. To me, the weight is very important! It is driving me crazy. If it's too heavy it's not for me because the price is into sportscar territory.

I hope it's not heavier than the current US WRX!

I can't see how it could be lighter then the current WRX. The six speed is a lot heavier then the five. They will have to pull major weight elsewhere to overcome the tranny.

No way it can be lighter than the regular WRX, every single component on the car is heavier than the orginal and there is very little weight on the car they can remove. It's just a question of how much heavier it will be, I am guessing 150-250lbs. There is 100+ extra pounds in the 6-speed drivetrain alone and close to 50 in the new huge brakes. The way they lose weight in Japan is in the bumpers but you won't see that happening here. The Japanese C-Spec loses the airbags as well...

SoAus lists the "unladen weight" as 30kg more than the previous gen (1470kg vs 1440kg).

Of course this is the Aus version, with the EJ20, not the EJ25, as well as potentially different bumber beams..

According to SOJ and japancars.com, the Spec C has the same front airbags as the normal STi.

Granted, but I think it's a better temperature gauge as to what the weight will actually be than anything else I've read up until this point. If I didn't, I wouldn't have bothered posting.

Default pricing guess

this is a bit off the weight issue but somebody mentioned something about a dyno chart for the australian wrx and that it was on the subaru australia site so i was just lookin around there and found a price for the australian STi. i dunno if its been mentioned before (i dont remember seeing anyone posting it but i havent gotten through all the info yet) so the Australian WRX STi is listed for $56,630 (australian dollars) which i put in a currency converter. for the exchange rate on 4/9/03 the Sti ( disregard all other variables like we get the 2.5L engine and what not) in america would cost $34,160.02. thats at msrp. its just a number to think about, and i thnk thast way to high for subaru to charge regardless if theres a market or not, i dont think they have the brand recognition yet to demand that kind of money, you could get a 350Z or G35 or an audi/bmw for that money and i dont htink subaru has the ability to simply jump in and try and run with them yet. so yeah take from that what you will i just cant wait for it to get here!

Foreign car prices can't be compared using straight exchange rates. Period.
