Brix measurement of 50/50 boost juice
Does anyone know what 50/50 water meth measures on a Brix refractometer? Would like the number for mixing at home.
I believe that I can use my old beer brix refractometer to dial in the mixture.

Page 4. Unless your brix refractometer is extremely accurate I don't think it would be a great way of dialing in the mixture. Between 44% and 56% the value only ranges between 1.3429 and 1.3431. |

Thanks... interesting. I took some -20F wiper fluid and measured it. Then displaced 36 oz with straight methanol and came up with something like 1.035. There were subtle but noticeable changes as I added 12oz at a time and measured it.
I am thinking if you remove about 36 oz of wiper fluid it’s leaves about 28oz of methanol if it’s about 30% for -20F (.3 x remaining 92 oz). Add 36 oz of methanol equals 64oz or 50% by volume. I’m sure it’s NOT perfect. I know various brands have different concentrations. The other thing I’m not sure is if there’s separation of the water and methanol on the shelf. So when I poured out 36oz It may not have been 36oz of “-20F” fluid but possibly something else if they separate. |
