Default What to look out for in an SVX

My wife and I are moving south, and her 120000 mile buick Century has had it....

If I get a job (i'm unemployed right now) she'll get one of the new C-Coupe mercedes if not, I'm thinking SVX...she wants the pickup that comes from a 6 cylinder engine. She likes the way the SVX looks except for the windows (my favorite part).

I would just like to know the negatives (what to look out for) in buying one of these cars.

Unfortunately the maintence on these cars is very high. I've bought the car 2 1/2 years ago and have but just as much money into the card as I did pay for it. But what can I say I still own it and love it.

Things to look out for,

Dirt collecting around engine seals.
During test drive, feel the shift between 2nd and 3rd for slipping. Listen for a loud low humm of wheel bearings starting to go. I'm not taking about normal tire road noise, it's more like a swam of 50 bees in the car with you with windows up.
Also the delay when you go from reverse to drive and drive to reverse. I can't say how long it should take but it should go right in. It's a definate sign that the transmission has a lot of wear on it.
Those are the big things, also cooling the engine and transmission tends to pop up every now and then on the messages. Alot of poeple get external transmission oil coolers. Some of the problems result from a blockage in the line (or thermostat for engine).
