here's to hoping the pro ends up with more than midrange specs and a decently sized battery. I'd love to stay with a pixel to avoid the bloatware from other manufacturers.

^ looks like the pro has one more camera than the normal model does so I think it's reasonable to assume that the rest of the specs will be better too, or so I hope. Seems to be a different situation than the normal/XL models in the past Pixels where the XL was just a larger version with a slightly bigger battery, no real difference in specs.

Regular Pixel 6 being around their usual $600 price point and Pixel 6 Pro being around $1000 with flagship specs would be sweet IMO. A few years ago a $1K phone was insane (and still is) but now that other flagships are well over that, I think $1K is reasonable if the specs are there.

Ended up returning the used DuraForce Pro2 due to a slight screen burn-in. Definitely a big plus of using Swappa. That said, also had a strange issue where swapping SIM cards goofed up SMS/MMS/RCS. For some reason I could send from the DuraForce but received messages were stuck in never-never land. If I popped the SIM back into the PH-1 all the queued up messages were received.

I can't figure out why this happened and I have never seen it before. Thoughts?

I'm just hoping they'll discount the dang Pixel 5 soon so I can replace this very much dying PH1, lol

I'm considering picking up a used 4a or 4 if I can find one at the right price.

I'm generally not a fan of buying (or selling) used electronics, so waiting on the inevitable discounts, but I guess the chip shortage might be why phones aren't discounting like normal mid cycle?

Perhaps. I know 256GB S21s are in short supply whereas 128GB ones are plentiful, for example.

I have to say, these new Pixel 6 rumors have me considering an upgrade from the S20 Ultra.

For me, it depends on how big that camera module actually is.

I am hoping that they smoothed out the animation. It's gotten better over the years but at times it can be a bit janky.

I have the first beta on a pixel 3xl. The color/theme thing I could see being nice if you just want it to match/compliment your wallpaper but there is also the option to choose your own color (from the list of Google theme colors) along with a choice of icon shapes and fonts. Grid/icon size is a choice, too. Overall it's more customization than had been available in the past as far as UI. I've only had it for 4 days but impressions are very good as far as smoothness and response. I did notice a significant difference in animation responsiveness when using gestures and I didn't think there was much problem with it on Android 11. I do hope they tone down or make the big, rounded, pill like sliders and such customizable.

Update: battery life seems to have improved a little since first install, which was at least as good as it was on 11, so that is a nice bonus. Just anecdotal evidence based on perception, so nothing worth claiming officially but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Android 12 beta update 2 comes with welcome improvements and changes. UI theme has been toned down from the huge, bubbly everythings to about half the size and radius on GUI corners/sliders/etc. Way better. Power menu has changed to be more simple and the Google home devices controls is part of the quick menu now instead of the power menu, which makes more sense to me. Also, live caption and focus mode are now integrated. Live caption uses additional battery but I'm going to try it out and see if I find it useful enough to give up some juice. Focus mode will be nice to keep Google news app from constantly notifying me during the work day about sports scores and various headlines but I'll be able to catch up quickly after work. That's the idea, anyway.

Picked up an S21 Ultra 5G yesterday. Couldn't turn down a trade in of $500 for my S10. So far, so good. It's a beast of a device.

Who gave you that deal? I'm willing to trade in my S20 Ultra if they give me $500.
