For star Smog. You need to do your own field work. If someone ever finds one, I don't think they'd pass information. Good Luck

Or you could not be a jackass and run a car that's legal.

Just saying.

Today was the first time I had issues with my AOS and aftermarket TMIC. I went to two different smog shops and they both said those weren't legal. WTF? Anyone know of any smog shops around the Irvine area that won't give me grief over these smog legal parts?

Here's a link to BAR for what's legal and what's not.

https://www.bar.ca.gov/pdf/APPENDIX%...%2012-2009.pdf

if it doesnt have a CARB sticker on it, dont expect it to pass. I had to remove a vacuum line I had tee'd into my intake for a vacuum gauge. Any sort of add on thats not factory or approved will fail. Now a days a lot of smog shops wont take the risk of fines and loosing there license to do someone a favor. The state is putting a lot of pressure on shops that use to hook people up.

I hold all my old parts, so every two years I get to put it back to stock for the smog check.

the intercooler should be okay but the aos would probably be a problem with some techs as they dont really know what it is. probably easier to take it off and get the smog, plus it seems like the state is really coming down on the smog program of sending undercover cars to the smog shops

That's crap, I'd print that sheet and take it with you. That explicitly shows that intercoolers and AOS are excluded from requiring an EO. Any shop that says they're illegal are idiots.

Go to any dingy shop in Santa Ana. If they are Mexican or Asian the more likely they will do it but, it’s the money that talks....

Good news, I was able to pass after presenting the BAR pdf to the smog station, however it took awhile for them to verify the information, before they said ok those parts are not illegal.
