I've had it for around 8 months (December 1, 2014) and I had an issue with the 2.4Ghz dropping a few months ago. Changed a few settings and did not resolve the issue. I power cycled it and same issue. I reset the router and it seemed to resolve the issue until last night. Same issue.

After looking at Amazon reviews (and other sites) it seems to be a common issue with no resolution..

Any ideas? I emailed Asus support but awaiting reply.

I had that one initially and it was pretty good (for the price). My office gets warm in the summer thus causing my CPU temps to increase (not horribly). I did notice a decrease in temps with the h100i (and notcua fans).

I have no good reason for upgrading (or equal upgrade) to the Noctua (or any other CPU cooler). I just want to do it but probably won't
I have the AC version. Never had any issues. Always fast, always reliable, great range in my open layout home. Don't think I have rebooted it in 18 months until last week when it quit completely. Looks like a power supply issue because the LED on the adapter flashes when I switch it on but the router never power up. ASUS support said send it in, warranty is good until October.

Down side, I'm back on the Verizon antech POS. Wi-Fi streaming and data transfer on the network is mediocre at best.

I have three D14s. I have not tried a D15 yet. The D14s are GREAT. They are quiet, easy to install, cool great, and last forever. If the D15 is better, it is one heck of a cooler. The only down side is the size.

Yeah, great, as long as you never have to remove it.

Then again, I had a couple small vram heat sinks fall off a video card once even though I followed the directions to the letter (degreasing, etc).

It is pretty quick and easy to use though.

18 months. Dang.

I powered the router off all day while I was at work and connected it when I got home..... Working fine all evening (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz).. Weird.

Yeah I have the R4 case so it will fit (so I've read).

Well, this was more stressful than it should have been, but it's all done now...

Tomorrow I move into my new case as well, so I'll have some pics once it's all assembled.

That is a lot of work for an old card.
Is this for a htpc or quiet pc?

I have one on my main desktop rig, which I use for everything, including folding. I have another desktop rig that mainly just folds (Win10 machine). I have an old folding rig that has been retired as well, with a D14 on it. They are really great air coolers, I think you will be happy. You may want to check if your memory will fit under the cooler.

Meh... put the 680 back in and system won't power up with it installed... guess it didn't survive the heatsink-ectomy... not even sure how to try and troubleshoot this.

I take it it powers on without the card, just not with it?
Tried with it on the pci-e slot, but without power from the psu?

(get a 970 )

Yeah, works fine with one of my older cards installed... I wonder if I got some of the artic silver adhesive on something sensitive to capacitance...

I don't think the board was using anything on the heatplates for added ground... not sure what is up =P

970 isn't really an upgrade from the 680... I might aim a bit higher.

Futzed with it a bit... figured the VRM area was the only place any kind of electrical shorts could have happened.

Managed to pop off one of the heatsinks I epoxied on and noticed I didn't damage the chips below... slowly managed to wiggle each other heatsink off and clean up any epoxy that might have been bridging things.

GPU works now with nothing on the VRM chipests... so clearly I have to be more careful when I re-epoxy these back on (cleaning the epoxy off of the heatsinks will be hell).

Much better temps before/after:

Uhm, yeah it is.

I would check carefully around the power cord connectors and make sure you have not broken one of the hard metal connectors. Can you remove the heatsink and AS and put it back on with new compound?

Obviously you should always buy as much power as you can afford reasonably (980ti), but to say it's not really an upgrade is not really an opinion, it's just factually incorrect. The 970 even outpaces the 780ti in some games.

Regluing the vrm heatsinks on right now... Used 1/2 as much epoxy this time.

Edit: success! Up and running!

Fan was working great, it's this style of cooler, which I guess just doesn't generate enough airflow for the noise it makes...

I'm also not sure with all the other airflow I have in my case, how much this was fighting against any of my other fans... I seem to have enough airflow out the top/back that I find a lot of dust stuck to the back of the PCI-e slots on my case due to all the air being pulled in there.

Yeah, 970 is a substantial upgrade over the 680 in every single aspect, period.

I'll trade you one for that Fanatec wheel.

I mean you got it for free so your net profit would be $75.

I'm only seeing it being about 2000 3D Marks over my system:

This was the previous before/after I posted...but I had re-seated the water block a few times w/o putting fresh paste on since I was troubleshooting.

Here's the same workload but with proper paste on it:

Quite the difference... especially because this is silent.
