Well I’m a turn of events starting with a broken TV (new one delivers tomorrow) I’ve decided to grab a single SVS PB-2000 sub with the Black Friday deal for $600. With my room size and openness it won’t be too big and I can decide later if I want to swap for 2x Pb-1000 or pick up a second 2000.

That rtings makes it look like the LG is a piece of crap.
The IPS panel though. When I got the Sony x900e, the first thing I noticed was how bad VA panels are. Im an IPS user on all screens. |

We have an LG IPS panel in the house. They are fine. The main gripe I have is the lack of contrast and that's just an IPS thing. If you're not using it for "critical viewing" it'll serve you well.

Oh WTF. I dont remember seeing it on there. I could probably just buy that and then return the LG to Costco.
FWIW: It will be mostly used by 4 and 7 year olds watching ****ty YouTube videos. |

Man - I cant imagine what that would be like. This Klipsch is already knocking our socks off and we only have it at 50% gain.

First impression is it’s not boomy like other big subs I’ve heard/felt. It’s more like I’d expect from a speaker like the noise is exactly the sound it’s supposed to be without just being bass for bass sake.
I can however feel it in my chest. Had to stop now since kids are sleeping. |

I wanted to get it from Costco, but the first day they went on sale it was all out of stock. I hedged my bets on the fact that the Sony TVs I had previously since 2009 are still working, so I am hoping to get a few years out of this one. The picture quality is impressive. I paired it with Sony HTZF9 soundbar with rear wireless speakers and sub I bought Open Box from Best Buy. Seems to be a great setup that cost me less than $2k. |

I don't have the wireless model. Once WFH ends I'll hook them up to my desktop
computer for gaming and music but for now they are being used in my converted office. Quote:

*Sigh*
So the first time getting my Deftech BP9060 fixed was a pretty quick affair, only took 10 days. For those that recall, I picked it up from the shop, took it home and it broke two hours later and I took it back to the shop the next day. Taht was just shy of a month ago. I checked on it yesterday and they are expecting the replacement amplifier "mid to late December." Blehhhhhhhhhh Speakers with active subwoofers (or active speakers in general) are just a terrible idea. Don't do it folks. |

While watching Schitt's creek, the episode where they're singing silent night, my speaker started clipping. Google says because amp is underpowered?

just napkin math but you should have been capable of pushing like 110db of spl with that combo. Definitely shouldn't be clipping at normal listening levels when watching television. Amp might need to be re-capped?

Anyone know any actual shops that can repair a Class A/B amp? Mine keeps blowing fuses immediate upon powering on.
Klipsch Promedia 2.1 (older style with the power switch and accessible fuse) I'd prefer to get it repaired as it's an awesome system. I tried doing one of those inexpensive Class D amps from Amazon with listed power ratings of 2x 50W per L/R channel and 100W for sub channel but those numbers are rated at 4ohms. These speakers are 8ohm so the sub is underpowered. Worse, there's an very audible click/popping sound coming out the Right channel whenever there is zero sound. I'm sure that's noise coming from the source (Monitor connected to my PC via HDMI, Speakers connected to the monitor via 3.5mm to headphone jack to RCA cable) but the original Klipsch amp must have been more forgiving as that never came through before. Also, I hate having to replace **** that can be fixed. Such a waste. |

PB2000 update after tuning/calibrating a little bit with Yamaha's tuner thing.
I'm really happy with it, the sound is fantastic and the way it fills the lower end is great. I can definitely see going dual if I could figure out a place to put another monster without being too in the way. What I'm noticing is exactly what i wanted - more bass fill at even lower volumes. It was very noticeable last night while playing Cyberpunk on the home theater setup - the bass sounds like it would in the situations in the game in real life. For example in the bar the bass is in the background, discernible, but not overwhelming but really great. I was really hopeful that while I was playing games or watching stuff at a moderate volume after kids went to bed I'd still get bass but not in a way that is intolerable by the family. It's 100% delivering that. |
