Rumors are this is just a re-badged VW Tharu - ditching the silly name for the 'murican themed one.
Kinda disappointed it's not the t-roc. I hardly see how this is differentiated from the Tiguan. I guess maybe it's a little smaller, but unless it undercuts the tiggy in price, who is going to buy something styled so similarly, around the same price point, but just a tiny bit smaller? |

Perhaps a 5 seater only and Tiguan will be 7 seater? Don't like those taillights or any of the garish bottom junk.

Tiguan was a lot bigger in person than I thought.. in my case not a plus, more minus. At one point I was looking at the R-Line, but thing has no engine upgrades and just looks so decided if slow is okay, I'd go for the Forester Limited.. and I did.

I can fit the Tiguan and GTI side by side in our standard 2 car garage with plenty of space to open doors and get to the house door. That was the test. Atlas was a squeeze nightmare and I could not fit around it, nor open the doors without hitting something.
Forester had no third row, and a non-turbo motor with CVT, so I didn't even care to shop it. Didn't even look at 2 row Tiguans either. Zero point of a ute with only two rows IMO. Sitting up high and all that doesn't appeal to my wife and I. All CUV with third row is a compromise, so I went with the smallest footprint available where the kids can fit in the third row with seatbelts and grandparents can sit in the middle row. Works great for that while they're at the ages they are. When they outgrow the Tiguan, we'll shop something else. But for how cheap we got the R-Line for and how good it looks and handles and the mileage it gets, plus the warranty, it was a no brainer. It's also the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned from new. ZERO issues so far. And the GTI is proving to be just as reliable. |

Atlas will easily fit in my 900sq ft finished garage, but I don't need a car that big nor 3rd row seats. Forester is a good size for what my wife uses it for and made in Japan is a good thing.
Huh, I did not know the R-Line came with a turbo engine.. so slow it felt the same as my Forester. |

Our neighbors had a baby, their first. Bought a new Highlander. Her parents who come over about once a week then bought a new Pilot for grandkid duty.

*shakes head* (jokingly) you young parents with SUV's. When my kids were born their grandma (MIL) came over with their 2 door coupe. They never bought a different car and between grandpa, they teamed up when they needed to latch my kids in the back seats in the rain so they didn't have to get too wet. They did perfectly fine looking after my kids when needed.

Haha, I remember the days when my buddy (older than me) came over in his brand new 280ZX with his 2 little kids un-buckled in the passenger seat (front of course).

Our outback will be replaced with something smaller in the future, but it's fully paid off and we couldn't justify two car loans, so I had to ditch the golf. Almost bought an old integra coupe.

It's a Native American language... from the same tribe (Pueblo) that VW derived the name Tiguan.

Those Tegs were actually pretty damn good. My buddy had a Teg-R and man did we carve Malibu back then. It was him and me in a Gen5 Prelude at the time. LOL |
