Default When Lug Nuts are Super tight, what is the best way to remove them?

Hey

Without a breaker bar and torque wrench, just wondering what the next best option is? Say you only have the stock wrench?

I'm just wondering as i got my car back from a big service today and was going to work on the wheels but holy damn the lug nuts are TIGHT.

I was standing on the wrench trying to force it down and it wasn't moving!

I only thought after that maybe standing on the wrench could potentially bend something? Thought I'd ask and see if it is something I shouldn't do or is not an issue?

Get in the car, drive it back to the shop, and tell those clowns to take them off and tighten them to spec.

Short of that if you really cant get them off your going to the store to buy 1. a piece of pipe to slip over the wrench arm to get more torque, 2. a breaker bar, or 3. an impact and a compressor.

Pick your poison.

^right here

man it pisses me off when idiots put lugs on with an impact
they could be on with 300 ft pounds for all anyone knows
I've broken socket extensions getting lugs off like that

a pipe is your best option if hopping on the bar isn't working, don't worry about 'bending' something.

haha cheers guys! Yeah it was insane I have never had them tightened this much after getting it back. I gave up trying to remove them after 1 lug nut as I was like "screw this."

I might actually buy myself a breaker bar and torque wrench so I can put them on and take them off in the future.

Damn that sucks! Wasting good tools aye! Yeah I'm thinking about buying the Kyokugen Heptagon Lug Nuts as I actually want an extended closed lug nut and it is one of the few around. Hopefully with the heptagon shape whenever I take it somewhere they wont be as likely to have the heptagon shapes for their impact drivers and will have to use the manual one I provide .

Thanks guys!

A breaker bar is a great cheap tool that anyone from seasoned mechanic to weekend warrior should have. You really shouldn't be breaking bolts loose with rachets, and especially not torque wrenches, anyway.

Trying to get off step daughters Honda 1.5L crank bolt
Had to buy a 4ft pipe from HD/lowes
Freakin $36(pre Covid mind u)
And this pissed me off
Counter lady asked me if I wanted a warranty for $5-6
????
Used the pipe/breaker and was successful
Took that crap back for a return

I keep an 18" breaker bar with an impact socket for the lug nuts in the car so I don't have to use the annoyingly short stock one.

Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world. Archimedes

Ok
Appears breaker bar is winning in opinion poll
Will definitely work
But
Need to support that force
Get the bitch lug nut at correct height
Then support the round portion of the socket wrench with a Jack stand so do not strip lug or gouge rim/fender if slips

Do a search on Honda crank shaft bolt removal
You will see the set up
