The Mauser is one of the first firearms I ever held in my hands. Even though I had never fired it, it left its mark on my shooting experience. After that, I found a few more alternatives, which are lighter and have less recoil. I was won over by Christensen, which is still in my garage and reminds me of the days when I hunted. It was awesome!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one here with that kind of nostalgia. That's why I'd love to hear your stories.

Came across this for $600. Not sure if I did well or not but screw it. These things have always peaked my curiosity but not enough to pay $1500+ for one.

It's actually only got around 500 rounds through it. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet.

Just got a Canik TP9 Elite SC. Sweet little pistol. The triggers on these Caniks are as nice as you've heard.

For the mean time I was able to hoard about 2k rounds of FN branded 5.7. Should hold me off for a little bit, because I'm scared to buy any federal branded 5.7, saw a few issues with it on Reddit so I'll stay away from it for now.

I don't really need another AR type of gun, but PS90s have always appealed to me. Hope you don't get grief when the wife finds out.

Well, ammo prices just aren't recovering, and I wanna go shoot, but not at current 6.5 CM prices. ><

Does anyone have a 223 or (preferably) 5.56 bolt action that's just collecting dust they'd let go? My local stores have a lot of 9mm/223+556 lately.

Has anyone had quality issues with Remington's from the last couple years since they filed? Plenty of 700s around but I wonder how many are older.

newer remingtons are really spotty, but the older ones are pretty solid. ruger americans are about the same price and consistently pretty good quality.

Thanks, yeah that's what I'd read a bit of about the late Rems. I'd been searching the last few days and got kinda frustrated. Heck, the Calgun forums have 2-3 pages of new sales *every day* just in the long gun ads. Too much to keep up with.

I really like the Ruger Hawkeye Long Range Target, but no 223, oh well. I was also surprised that CZ doesn't really have a solid centerfire, because I loooove love love my CZ rimfire.

Caved and happened to run across a Savage Axis II XP (the one with the factory scope) in 223 for $400 from grabagun. It was on my early radar as basically a decent bang for your buck budget rifle anyway. Reviews for it suggest it needs some bedding, which I haven't done before, so maybe that'll be like a little side project also, hah.

They do. It just doesn't come in .223.

After buying & moving into my house (early this year), in a city that's a little bit more red than where I used to live, my neighbor told me that I'm a redneck now so I need a truck and guns. I don't have a truck yet but bought my first gun. Shadow System MR920 Elite. And apparently, I started when ammo prices are crazy.

Now, I have 4

Buying a tarted up Glock does not entitle you to redneck status.

An 870 and an SKS does.

870 for sure.

SKS only if it has the permanently attached folding bayonet.

I have the opposite problem, lol

800 rounds of .45 ACP I don't need, but the idea of dealing with the general public to sell it means it's gonna sit on my shelf for another 5 years collecting dust.

I'm pretty sure there's an Otter looking for those, that live in your area. Not me though. I'm only in for 9mm & 300 blk

Yeah if anyone is in the DFW area and interested by all means DM me, lol. It's the old S&B with sealed primers FMJ 230 grain.

Bought a whole bunch of it a few years back and then stopped going to the range, I've moved 3 times since I bought them XD.

Anybody still shooting? I went to the range a couple of weeks ago for the first time in I don't know how long...maybe early 2021? I had 4 new pistols to shoot, put at least 100 rounds through each (100 plus some HST for some I might carry). Hand fatigue at the end of the trip was a real issue. Not the end of the world but uncomfortable for sure.

Also, if anybody has any interest, there is a $50 rebate on the S&W Shield Plus but it ends in a few days. I bought one optics-ready with night sights. Don't love the trigger reset, but bought an Apex USB to hopefully fix my issue with it. I have yet to install it. The gun is really not much bigger than my beloved Glock 43 but holds a fair amount more rounds now.

I went a month or so back, but weather + days off = rare time to burn half a day on a range outing.

My club is holding an orientation day for the shotgun area Sunday, thinking I might go. Been a member for over a year and only used the Archery Course (a lot) and MP ranges (2x) thus far.

With the cost and availability of ammo I haven't been going. But, it looked like stuff was coming back into stock for longer and prices were coming down (I am almost all 9mm & 22lr, with a .45 and .357 for giggles) when I checked last month after my trip.

Cool, I get it about the time sink and ammo cost and time in general. I love my VEPR-12 shotgun but I think I'm mostly alone. I have done some upgrades but wow, it's awesome to me. Heavy but amazing. My girlfriend has a 20-gauge shotgun and I don't think she'll go near what I have. One of my friends who shot it said it was too heavy compared to his pump that he put a shock-absorbing stock on. I love that thing and would rather have a 15-round semi-auto shotgun than an 8-round something or other...I hate the sights on that thing
